"Trade unions have been on the decline since the 1970s" This piece really made me put more questioning on why unions declined after the 1970s and one of the reasons were the outsourcing of jobs towards countries with cheap labor.

One sentence that I would like to share from Loomis's reading is, “Teachers won a 5 percent pay raise very small but a step in the right direction.” This line stood out because it shows how even small victories can symbolize progress in larger struggles for fairness and justice. It made me think about how change is created by small steps and increments can build momentum for more significant improvements later on in the future.

This made me think how true it is because I’ve seen people who retire and still feel the need to work in something or for someone even though they don’t get paid enough.

A sentence from Loomis's introduction that made an impression on me : "Under a capitalist economy such as that of the United States, employers profit by working their employees as hard as they can for as many hours as possible and for as little pay as they can get away with" and "Many of us don't enjoy our work. We don't get paid enough. We have to work two or three jobs to make ends meet if we have a job at all. They stood out to me because these are examples that do happen in the real life and that they are things that people actually have to go through and it is not easy.

I found it interesting because when you think about work and power you think what is going to push this person to their limit? What makes them tick? How far are they willing to go? Stuff like that I'm not really sure if that’s accurate but I know that’s what I think they think about. Only because why does it take someone to be at their breaking point for some type of change?
