What differences have you seen between the Spanish language and your native language? What did you find interesting and exciting about the Costa Rican culture? - The differences I've noticed between the Spanish language and English are the grammatical differences. In English, adjectives proceed your nouns. For example, "The red car", or "The black dog." However, in Spanish phrases begin with the noun and end with the adjective. For example, "El Carro Rojo" or "El Perro Negro." Additionally, I noticed the question marks that come before questions and the accents within different words in Spanish. What I find most exciting about Costa Rican culture is the genuine ideology of loving one another and being kind to those around you.  "Pura Vida" is a beautiful phrase that I think will always stay with me. 

What do you hope to learn if you continue to study the Spanish language?           - I hope to learn more of an in-depth understanding of both the culture and the language as a whole. Next spring I hope to take another Spanish class at our local community college to further my education of the language I've developed such a fondness for. 

We have learned elements of a language in a different teaching/learning style than you may be used to. Talk about your experience with learning Spanish in an online class. What did you like about the course? What did you not like and/or what could be improved? - My experience learning Spanish in an online setting is definitely different than the setting most people are used to however, I have really enjoyed it. Working at my own pace, on my own time, gave me the flexibility I needed in order to pursue an in-depth understanding of Spanish without being confined to a classroom. The resources given were always exactly what I needed to understand and the Schedule of Assignments really helped me stay on track towards the end of this course. As cheesy as it sounds, nothing within the course really caused me any issues however, I would have liked to be able to watch RLCs at my own time rather than based on a schedule. 

What things did you do that helped you learn Spanish in this course? What things can you do to improve your own Spanish learning in the future? - The notes within each module or lesson really helped me grasp and understand whatever concept was being taught. The provided quizlets and matching activities all helped me learn and retain the information given. Recently, I have downloaded the Duolingo app on my phone to continue my understanding of Spanish past a basic level. After this class has concluded I hope to use it daily to continue to learn a little bit of Spanish every day!

What things did your instructor do to help you with your learning? Was there anything that your instructor didn't do that would have helped you? - My instructor, Mrs. Clark, was such an awesome teacher throughout this whole course. Particularly, I really enjoyed the one RLC I got to see her teach. She was happy and excited to teach Spanish and it stuck with me throughout the rest of the course. Her enthusiasm was inspiring and it made me even more excited to learn about Spanish!
