When we watch the film "The Man who knew the infinity" with more attention, we can see that there are a lot of symbols.
One of them is the sea, that symbolizes challenges to face before reaching a goal.
Another one is the book, that symbolizes culture and knowledge, that can be achieved with such willpower by everyone.
We can also see the umbrella of the man on a sunny day, that symbolizes distrust in the world and in others, and the belief only in oneself.
To conclude, another symbol is the tree, under which Newton sat when he discoverd the gravity, that demonstrates the complexity of nature, despite appearing simple.

From a first viewing of this film we can extrapolate philosophical, moral and ethical concepts that are relevant in every circumstance and in every situation. In fact, the whole film is characterized by some scenes that intend, in a meticulous and particular way, to instill some "positive" teachings and convictions in the audience. The various dialogues of the protagonists and their teachings, aim to break down what are the racist, discriminatory barriers, which diminish man, and therefore on the contrary raise every form of knowledge and every individual, even those who come from the humblest of origins. The prejudices of men, of the most powerful, are eliminated and therefore the abilities and skills of those who are humbler are exalted to the highest levels.

So, the aim is to make people understand that philosophy of life, the moral one, according to which anyone can access knowledge if endowed with willpower and dedication. In order to this, we have a positive representation of the man's mind, of his ethic, especially of the man who has less resources and who has been less fortunate in his life.

An important element of the film is certainly the historical context in which it is set, which allows us to understand the behavior and thinking of the various characters. The film is set in 1920 and demonstrates the results of the First World War, in particular on London in the twenties. In addition, it gives a vision of the society and rigid culture of India, the country where the protagonist, Ramanujan, was born and raised.

The characters of all characters are influenced by the historical context of the time:

-Ramanujan: he is a young Indian who cannot find work, as he did not have a degree and was not employed by anyone. He was a self-taught mathematician who was given the opportunity to go to London to publish his books, but due to his culture and society in India, the young man could not sail overseas. In fact, his mother and sister had warned him that if he left, no one would speak to him again and his children would never get married. He was convinced that his mathematical abilities were a divine gift offered to him during his sleep or during prayers by the Hindu goddess Namagiri.

-Ramanujan 's mum: she is a very traditionalist woman, very attached to culture.

-Professor Hardy: you are a very different person from Ramanujan from a cultural point of view and from a social background. Unlike his colleagues who did not accept Ramanujan and his theories, Hardy has no prejudices and believes in him and in his talent, in fact despite their differences, what unites them is the language of mathematics.

- the other Cambridge professors: they do not accept Ramanujan because they think he is not suitable for their university based only on his culture and his origins, outraged by the fact that a man of different origin could be a mathematician or an equal teacher of the others.

-soldiers: they are the most significant example of this historical context, since their relationship with Ramanujan demonstrates the painful and humiliating struggle of the protagonist against the racists.

The leading actors of the movie "The man who knew infinity " are Srinivasa Ramanujan and the professor Godfrey Harold Hardy.
Srinivasa Ramanujan is an Indian man who lives in a poor area Mandras in India . He is very smart ,hard working and passionate for mathematics so he started making his own personal writings in mathematics . He started to contact professors of mathematics at universities by writing to them. One such letter is sent to G.H. Hardy, a famous mathematician at University of Cambridge, who begins to take a special interest in Ramanujan and invites him to Cambridge to test his mettle as a potential theoretical mathematician. In the end ,after a lot of work he is accepted as a Fellow of the Royal Society and then as a Fellow of Trinity College but sadly ,after a couple of months he dies from tuberculosis.
Godfrey Harold Hardy is a very good professor of mathematics at Univeristy of Cambridge that is really interested in Ramanujan's theories. Mr. Hardy invites Ramanujan to Cambridge so they can write proofs of Ramanujan's theories in mathematics and with perseverance, he manages to get Ramanujan published in a major journal. They had a really rough start but in the end they became really close friends.

The film is shot in two different settings: Madras, in India, the city where the protagonist grew up and where he was able to study and discover his vocation for mathematics and the prestigious Trinity College, in Cambridge, England, where the protagonist expands his knowledge in mathematics and makes himself known for what he is and for what he can give.

From these two completely different places we can realize the difficulties that Ramanujan had to face: from the house where Ramanujan's mother and wife lives we understand that India, at that time, was a backward and very poor country, unlike England, which was rich and was establishing itself as a power of world importance.

The movie contains some ethical soundtrack, which supports the atmosphere. Also some of them feels like 'hope' inside when I think about it (Opening Titles - Coby Brown for example). But most importantly, all of the soundtrack strengthens places atmosphere and lets you get inside the movie. Artist Coby Brown really makes us feel all the emotions. When they become sad, we feel sad too. When the protagonist feels determined, we feel that too. Maybe not inside us, but inside him.
