Q6: Tessie is carefree at the start, yet when she "wins" the lottery she gets mad and doesn't believe it was fair

q 8, old man warner thinks there should always be a lottery because he thinks it gives them good harvests. And when he heard that other towns weren't doing the lottery anymore, he said they are gonna want to live back in caves. And if they don't do it, they will eat stewed chickweed and acorns because their harvests was a failure

Q3: The hesitation from the people being afraid to help Mr. Summers handle the box is normal due to the fact that it has something bad with it

Question 6: When Tessie Hutchinson arrives at the lottery, she is calm. But in paragraph 79, it says "It isn't fair, it isn't right." "Mrs.Hutchinson screamed and then they were upon her." Before the lottery, she probably believed her chances are so slim that there isn't anything to worry about, but when she wins, her attitude or demeanor changes. This shows that when the plot directly affects the character, they can change their mood and attitude quickly.

Question 4:The paraphernalia was lost long ago, but the black box they were using was already put into use before the oldest person in their village was born. This is shown in paragraph 5 where the author says "The original paraphernalia for the lottery had been lost long ago, and the black box now resting on the stool had been put into use even before Old Man Warner, the oldest man in town, was born."

Question: 6 I think that when Mrs.Hutchinson arrives she was acting all normal like she wasn't gonna win the lottery and making jokes. On paragraph 8 she said, "Clean forgot what day it was," she said to Mrs.Dekacoix,who stood next to her, and both laughed softly." This matters because when Tessie got chosen she was yelling it wasn't fair and we should have a do over, she was really scared and her attitude from calm and jolly went to scared and frightened. -Tristan Mai

Q8- Old Man Warner objects to the people's ideas from wanting to stop the lottery because of the tradition "helping" their crops. In paragraph 32 Old Man Warner uses the phrase, "Lottery in June, corn will be heavy soon." This shows that Old Man Warner wants the lottery to stay or else there will be consequences, he thinks that without the lottery, the crops won't flourish like they do with stoning someone for the crops.

Q2: On paragraph 2 the author states, " Bobby Martin had already stuffed his pants full of stones, and the other boys soon followed his example." and on paragraph 3 the author states," They stood together, away from the pile of stones in the corner, and their jokes were quiet." This explains that the boys started to collect stones for something bad about to happen and they began to stuff their pants with stones and collect stones in a pile which is a weird thing to do, the men also started to act weird as soon as they weren't laughing at each others jokes and they were smiling instead they knew something was about to happen and they needed to be serious.

Q6: When Tessie Arrived at the lottery she was confident that she was not gonna "win" the lottery and she was even making jokes around and She "won" the lottery and she gets angry and she thinks that it wasn't fair.

Q6: When Tessie Hutchinson first arrives at the lottery she is calm and happy. But when she is chosen as the winner on paragraph 79, she says "It isn't fair, it isn't right."

Question 3: We can infer that the black box has something inside that can contain something dangerous inside of it or something that makes people afraid of that is common. Or the people in the town are afraid that if they help something bad will happen to kill and they might get picked from the lottery.

Q6: When Tessie arrived at the lottery she was acting cocky and joking around acting like she wouldn't win, and when she won the lottery she started to argue saying that it wasn't fair.

Question 8: Old Man Warner thinks that giving up the lottery will have serious consequences because he thinks that people will want to start living in caves again, and not work anymore. Old Man Warner says that there should always be a lottery because of harvesting. He believes that if the town makes a human sacrifice, the harvest will be successful or plentiful.

03: In the beginning the adults and children were feeling nervous and uncomfortable. Paragraph 3 states how they were all standing together away from the pile of stones and made quiet jokes smiling and not laughing. By their actions you can notice how they felt awkward and nervous.

Q6: When Tessie arrives she seem cocky and even jokes with Mr.Summer, acting like she already knew that someone else was going to be chosen , In the short film she seemed to be happy when she arrives late.To they end of the story they found the Billy Hutchinson was chosen , then after she was scared , saying it was not fair and explaining that they did not give enough time for himself to pick. After their family picks a paper and she see that everyone got a blank and she had not unwrapped her paper she was scared and said and screamed it is not fair while everyone got a rock ready to throw it at her still screaming it was not fair till the end.

Q8 Old Man Warner thinks that not having a lottery is foolish because he thinks that doing the lottery will make harvesting crops easier.

Q3: I can infer that the characters were "scared" of the box, and that they foreshadowed a bad ending. In paragraph 4 it says, "Some of you fellows wanna give me a hand?" There was hesitation..."

This proves that the box gives readers an idea that the lottery probably is not a good thing because of how people were afraid of the box.
