I took this picture here at the Dean of Students' Office. One way to start the language learning process is by reading. Here you can ask for a book related to the University. They lend me this book about the history of the University, which can help you begin your language learning process. This book is all about Inter-Americana de San German history, which can be a great start to learning Spanish! In Machinová's presentation, she mentioned that you could start by reading a book to learn a new language. By choosing this method, you are using a strategy called spaced repetition. Using this method, you will learn words that grab and hold your attention; along the way, you can pick up all the vocabulary and grammar you need to know.  When you read interesting content in meaningful chunks, your brain naturally absorbs word meanings and grammar rules. Here is the nursing building. This building is where future nurses go and begin their future occupation.  Here you learn about what skills you will need to have to adapt to your chosen profession's outlook. In this unit, I learned what skills and strategies I needed to have to become an excellent future professional. In this unit, I also learned the possibility of a jobless future, where machines replaced people.  I don't think it's possible to live in a  future where nurses are not there, and I don't believe that a robot could ever replace a nurse. I took this picture of a bird because it relates to the TED Talk "What explains the rise of humans?". In the TED Talk, Yuval explains the main difference between humans and animals and why animals cannot control the world. He says that the main difference is on a collective level and that humans control the planet because they are the only animals that can cooperate flexibly and in vast numbers. I possibly could not imagine a world where animals control the world, more even a bird;  I don't think it would be possible or practical. Overall, humans control the world because we live in a dual reality while animals live in an objective reality.

Here you can see the University Library which has helped many of us on several occasions. We have even had classes in it, but on the other hand it has helped us to get some copies at the last minute or to take our exams. Right now it has helped many of us perhaps even to be able to take classes. It has a great influence on technology because what would we be without it where we can find a resource to be able to do our work. Metal like any other material gets damaged by time. The same can happen to our reading and writing. Unless we keep it maintained, taken care of. Every word we speak, every letter that we read adds to a collection in our minds, that with time gets rusted if we don’t indulge on them. If use is not being given to them.  Similarly, metal gets rusted if not maintained, if we leave it at the luck of nature, under rain, sun and mud it will certainly rust and perish. However, by protecting, supervising and developing strategies to remain it updated to our daily tasks, it could be helpful and empowering to us. In the same way, reading and writing requires certain attention of our part to prosper, to become autonomous in our persona, to assist in the cleansing of intellectual debris in our path. Clearly, like the caretakers of our lives, our individual priority consist of taking care of our metal.

In this unit, we learned about gaming and storytelling and how they relate to each other. In addition, I learned that we tell stories to entertain, inform, or educate. Furthermore, stories also allow us to share information memorably. I also learn that to write a good story, we need to use sentence variety. This includes avoiding short or choppy sentences and combining sentences, and using coordination or subordination. In the TED Talk, David mentioned how video gaming turns us into storytellers and tells us that interactive storytelling is a revolution in telling stories. He says that we can start creating our own stories, and I want to create my own story with this picture I took around the campus. This picture can be part of a setting in a virtual reality game like David showed in his presentation. For example, it can become part of a scene where a character must make a choice or a scene that changes the game. To sum up, this picture could be the beginning of my own interactive storytelling and even the start of my own video game.

Humans and animals are different because we can cooperate. In the world where all kind of animals once existed in the same era as humans, we are predominant because our capacity to think rational and in an intelligent manner. The stories we tell make a fictional world as Yuval Noah Harari said in the ted talk, “animals live in an objective reality, humans live in a dual reality”. In short, animals perceive the world around objectively to their needs. Similarly, humans have the same ability, additionally; we can work together for our needs and indirectly for the survival of others. Therefore, our ability to scale the survival pyramid collectively helped shape our evolutionary and technological development.

Too much time on our cellphones rob us of the essence of small details that life offers. The strength technology holds over our life sometimes is greater than our judgement to decide when is enough and it stalls the mechanism of common sense and logic. This photo portrays the path we can possibly take in the use of technology. For example, as said in the ted talk by Adam Alter: Why our screen make us less happy, he compares the use of cellphones to drugs in the context of dependency. When you overcome it “…life becomes more colorful, richer, more interesting…”. Thus, finding a balance between life responsibilities and the use we give technology could make our life more fulfilling.

In this picture, you can see the
mattress used for pole vaulting. This is where I practice pole vaulting. Many of us, the student-athletes, do sports and take classes every day, and we improve at both simultaneously. Here you can learn the skills and discipline to become a good pole vaulter and an even better person. Growing up as a student-athlete can be difficult sometimes, but once you start climbing you will begin to love the sport and everything you do.

Metal like any other material gets damaged by time. The same can happen to our reading and writing. Unless we keep it maintained, taken care of. Every word we speak, every letter that we read adds to a collection in our minds, that with time gets rusted if we don’t indulge on them. If use is not being given to them.  Similarly, metal gets rusted if not maintained, if we leave it at the luck of nature, under rain, sun and mud it will certainly rust and perish. However, by protecting, supervising and developing strategies to remain it updated to our daily tasks, it could be helpful and empowering to us. In the same way, reading and writing requires certain attention of our part to prosper, to become autonomous in our persona, to assist in the cleansing of intellectual debris in our path. Clearly, like the caretakers of our lives, our individual priority consist of taking care of our metal.
