I love how you incorporated inspecting equations, number work, and problem solving. They kids really knew how to explain their math thinking (and their classmate's thinking). I would like to try incorporating inspecting equations and number work as part of morning work. Also, spiral review concepts with problem solving and having students write solutions on the board for each set of just right numbers. The students were able to explain their thinking, and make justifications. I also liked that you didn't really "teach" the lesson. The students were taught by their peers, which is awesome! 
Question - Do you conduct math rotations? If you do, is this your introductory activity/mini-lesson, or would this be one of your small groups/rotations?
Next Steps - Continue finding ways to incorporate the four quadrants (especially number work and inspection equations). Also find more ways to use peer teaching!

I was amazed by how the students questioned each other. My next step would be reteaching the number line and modeling how we can use it for more than computation.

Brooke, I loved the interactive use of the cubes to help the kids know and understand your key vocab words for the day. It was a well-managed hands-on activity!

In all 3 rooms, students were engaged in what they were doing. I loved sitting down in Ally's room and listening to the great conversation the kids were having. In Brooke's room, the kids absolutely loved the game they played and I could tell that they really understood the minilesson. In Abby's room, the discussion on key words was good. 
Question- I feel like we've discussed computation and number sense in detail, how does this apply to data, geometry, fractions, etc.?
Next steps: work on some different math station ideas for my class.

Questions:  
I would love some pd on including measurement, fractions, geometry, data analysis and time. With that being said we will get some PD on that?   I feel like the pd's with Ryan were all geared toward computation.

I like the challenge you presented to the kids to figure out for inspecting equations. It was nice to see that you broke that piece up into a couple of days and it gives me "permission" to do a piece on day one, and to extend the same activity into day two. 

Question - How to we involve the four quadrants of balanced math in geometry? I saw inspecting equations examples (and have observed a few) and am trying to wrap my brain around this piece; especially since it is such a push in upper grades and seen a lot in both NWEA and "The Test that Must Not Be Named." :) 

Next Steps - Continue to pick Jeanine's brain and follow up with how she incorporates the quadrants specifically in geometry. Would also like to follow up with some of the other teachers who were observed and get their input, as well!
