Harriet Beecher Stowe received criticism from the Americans that believed in slavery during this time. Harriet did not agree with the social segregation between the Africans and Americans. She also received many criticisms from the creation of her novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Many people in this time thought slavery was useful rather than harmful. Harriet disagrees, which is why her novel was created.

Modern Day Equivalent Reformer

A modern day reformer equivalent to Harriet Beecher Stowe would be Martin Luther King Jr. Even though he reformed the United States in 1968, his actions still speak to many people today. His leadership, confidence, and determination is very similar to Harriet's. They both were determined to end slavery and to end segregation. Martin Luther King Jr. will be remembered for many years for his incredible actions, as well as Harriet Beecher Stowe. If it wasn't for their actions in history, we wouldn't be as strong as we are today.
