I chose this video because it gives clear details on how photosynthesis works; as well as show the importance of this process. Photosynthesis is the process by which plants and other things make food. It is a chemical process that uses sunlight to turn carbon dioxide into sugars the cell can use as energy. Photosynthesis is the most important chemical process on earth – it provides food and energy for all living creatures who eat the plants that rely on this process to produce their food (glucose).

Gymnosperms:
In Georgia, only 3 families of Gymnosperms are present, and the most diverse by far is Pinaceae. Pine species are particularly diverse in the state relative to other gymnosperms, although there are still only 10 native species here. Pinaceae have needle-like leaves and female strobili that resemble typical "Pine Cones," although cone size is highly variable. The scales on the cones are imbricate in Pinaceae, meaning they overlap in a spiral formation from the base to the apex. Pines are among the most economically important plants in the state, particularly Loblolly Pine (Pinus taeda), which is widely planted for timber and is much more common in the state now than it was historically.

Chaparral biome are the most in danger because they are very dry and can result in large fires even through a lot of these fires are cause by human activities in the area; but shortage of rain can cause natural fires to happen as well. In the California area a big threat to the chaparral biome is pollution due to people building homes and industry is growing creating air pollution. The drastic change in climate has also caused plants and animals to die off; not being able to survive the heat and dryness.

Chaparral on its way to being type-converted to weedy, non-native grassland. The site in the image above is east of Alpine off Interstate 8 in San Diego County. The far left shows an old-growth chaparral stand last burned during the 1970 Laguna fire. The middle/left of the picture shows an area recovering from the Viejas fire of January 3, 2001. It is composed primarily of chamise, deerweed, and several other shrub species. To the right is a portion of the Viejas fire scar reburned in the Cedar fire October, 2003. As you can see the Cedar fire scar is now filled with non-native grasses. The majority of the re-sprouting shrubs have been killed and no obligate seeding species, such as Ceanothus, are present. The interval between the two fires was too short, causing the elimination of the chaparral plant community. Aside from development, there are three basics threats to the chaparral ecosystem in California:
Excessive fire,
Fuel treatment conducted by fire agencies, and
Misconceptions about chaparral have the potential of being the most dangerous because they lead to irrational public policy that promotes destructive land management practices such broadscale destruction of native shrublands through prescribed burning, grinding, and the spraying of herbicides. In fact, the US Forest Service has recognized the threat of increasing fire frequencies on chaparral

The third agricultural revolution, also known as the green revolution, is considered to be ongoing and has seen the expansion of farming with new techniques and technology that were not available even one generation prior. Genetic modification is one such aspect of the third agricultural revolution: scientists are able to modify genes in order to assist the growth of crops or livestock by increasing resistance to pests, reducing the time needed to grow to adulthood, or increasing the nutritional value of a particular type of food. While this has created some criticism of genetically modified organisms (GMO), it has also helped to drastically reduce global hunger by making more food available to more people.

Ginseng is an herbal preparation derived from the aromatic root of a plant of the genus Panax, which is native to East Asia. Ginseng belongs to the Araliaceae family of plants. Siberian ginseng belongs to a different genus, Eleutherococcus senticosus. The English name of the plant is a modification of its Chinese name, ren shen, which means "man" and "herb." There are three species of ginseng in common use in the United States: American ginseng, Korean ginseng, and Siberian ginseng. All are regarded as adaptogens that normalize immune functions and are preparations that help the body adapt to change, thus lowering the risk of stress-related illness. American ginseng, whose botanical name is Panax quinquefolius, has recently been evaluated as a treatment for high blood sugar in patients with type 2 (adult-onset) diabetes. The part of the ginseng plant that is used medicinally is the root. Ginseng roots are not harvested until the plant is four to six years old. The active ingredients in ginseng root are saponin triterpenoid glycosides, or chemicals commonly called ginsenosides. Other compounds found in Asian ginseng include glycans (panaxans); polysaccharide fraction DPG-3-2; peptides; maltol; and volatile oil. The active compounds in Siberian ginseng are called eleutherosides. Eleutherosides are somewhat different from the ginsenosides found in the Panax varieties of ginseng. There has been some debate among herbalists whether Siberian ginseng should be considered a true ginseng at all, due to this difference in active ingredients. Ginseng root from any of the three varieties is dried and can then be made into powder, capsules, or a liquid tincture. American ginseng is also available in the United States as whole roots.

I feel the world would look like the picture below if present day agricultural, economic, social, and political practices go unchecked. Without the constant monitoring of these things, the world will be susceptible to uncontrollable issues. The more stable a political system is, the less risk of terrorism or internal conflicts. Changes in land use patterns and agricultural practices can affect the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere from soil organic matter.
