Correct me if I'm wrong :)&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong>Tutorial 1&nbsp;</strong></div><div>I believe that the meanings of Mathematics that been suggested and summarized into 6 points are precise. This is because it conveys the application and implementation of Mathematics I daily life. For example, the study of patterns and relationship are often been applied in real life situation where as it&nbsp; also represent the way of thinking and how to solve problems that we encounter into. Besides, in Mathematics not merely about numbers, but also patterns that can lead to art i.e, Escher Pattern. Next, it act as the tool of communication as it can conveys the ideas clearly and precisely by using data, statistics and many more.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong>Tutorial 2<br></strong>In my opinion, Mathematics is important in my life as a trainee because it train me to instil the moral value. For example, the rationality that we gain under the practice in solving Matheatics problemscan be applied in daily life. We need to be able to form judgement in the classroom based on the evidence, able to reason out out decision and have to be open minded and able to think logically. Besides, it promotes the self- relience in ourselves. A teacher should be responsible, independent, industrious and have a good self confidence in order to disperse the knowledge to the student.<br><br></div><div><strong>Tutorial 3<br>Pythagoras </strong>was an&nbsp; <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Greeks">Greek</a> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_philosophy">philosopher</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematician">mathematician</a>, and putative founder of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagoreanism">Pythagoreanism</a> movement. We need to use rational and logical thinking to make connections between the mathematical concepts. For example, make connections between fractions and whole number. For equal fraction, students may be confused about multiple the top and bottom by 2 separate numbers but what we do actually doing is leveraging our understanding of the identity property. That mean what we do is multiplying the fraction with one whole number in the form of x/x. As we know in the video, Graham applies fraction subitizing cards as teaching aid to teach fractions. He separated fraction into three part which are the meaning of fraction, comparison of fraction and the equivalency of fraction. Moreover, Graham had also introduced the subitizing fraction cards as a teaching aid to help students begin to build  their fraction understanding. They can try out the cards and collect experimental data to test their ideas. Thus, analogical thinking is applied and students learn from experience.<br><br><strong>2.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1. Ideological value (Empiricism)<br></strong>One of the mathematical values determined in the video is empiricism of ideological value. In Graham’s progression video in 2016, we can see that Graham used the fraction cards when teaching fraction from first grade to fourth grade about meaning of fractions, comparison of fraction and equivalency of fraction. Knowledge of fraction is justified from sensory experience and fraction cards and diagrams are used as materialism, symbolizing and concretizing to build student’s better understanding in learning fraction.<br><br><strong>2. Sentimental value (Progress)<br></strong>Graham advised teachers not to only teach the rules, but should explain the concept of the rules so that students more understand about how the rules are happening and can be applied. Firstly, he had used the identity property 7X1=7 to make students understand that the identity property is same with equivalent fractions. However, he also gives example for equivalent fractions which is 2/3 x 2/2 =  4/6 is actually same as 2/3 x 1=2/3. From Graham's progression videos, teachers can make students to do a good connection with another concept effectively. As a result, the students can memories for the rules and give a good explanation to apply the rules.<br><br><strong>3. Sociological value (Openness)</strong><br>There is also openness of sociological value. Graham has stated that he is going to release the progression of addition and multiplication of fractions and then will be releasing the progression of subtraction and division of fractions. He realizes that there is a heck of rules through his progression videos. Therefore, he plans to host a webinar in order to share and unwrap a lot of the rules used when teaching fractions. This is a democratization of knowledge without understanding those rules himself.<br><br></div>]]></description>

We know that seven times one is equal to seven because of the identity property. Graham apply that to equivalent fractions.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Task 1<br>1. <strong>Sentimental value (Progress) </strong>is believed to be reflected in the teaching of understanding of fraction because Graham emphasizes the ways that mathematical ideas grow and develop in the video. In the previous video where Graham introduces equivalent fraction, he teaches that whatever we do to the numerator, we must also do to the denominator in order to obtain equivalent fraction. However, confusion arises as students continue to explore, for example, they add whatever number they add to the top, to the bottom. This results in misconception but the students are not exactly wrong as they do follow the rule. In attempt to solve this problem, Graham questions the existing idea and continues to develop his fraction progression, which aligns with the progress value. He comes up with another method to teach equivalent fraction, which is applying the knowledge of identity property. We all know that any number multiplies by one is itself, so when we multiply the denominator and numerator by the same number, we are not multiplying two different numbers, in fact we are multiplying by one whole. By using alternative theory, Graham is able to explain equivalent fraction with more clarity and continue to grow and develop his fraction progression. Hence, it is observed that progress value is being practiced in the teaching.<br>2.<strong> Sociological values (Openness）</strong><br>Graham realised that one of his previous video about fractions, may had cause some learner to misunderstood the concept of fractions incorrectly. Therefore, he thinks that he needs to use the way how he understand whole number to teach fractions. Teaching students to connect the fractions just like the way we teach whole number in kindergarden. So that teachers can understand and teach the criteria of proving and verifying to support the students.</div>]]></description>

Graham had talk about the suitable teaching mathod that teacher should be used in classes when teaching student about fraction. Nextly this cause the students cannot understand how some operation and method had be used.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Task 2<br>From the research paper, it shows all types of mathematical value, with examples of teaching and learning processes. For Rationalism, the example given is the teacher teaches students how to let ‘3a5’ be fully divisible by 3. In the process, the teacher is teaching proving methods, because the teacher will ask the student ‘Why?’, and students will answer to prove the answer is correct and logical. During proving, the teacher and student will like to discuss and prove the answer,so it matches Rationalism value. For Objectivism, the example given is teacher teaching student congruence. In the process, the teacher uses an arithmetic method to show the congruence part, and using a line mark the number. In this method, the teacher is trying to use line and mark as simbol to teach congruence, after the student questioning the teacher concretizing the concept. </div><div>For Control and Progress, from the example given the teacher is arranging the mathematical situation associated with daily life, which shows the control value in the example. Otherwise, another teacher is showing that how it is applicable in daily life also shows control mathematical value. Another example is given to show Progress value, the teacher is trying to use a small activity to let students understand the relationship between fractional number and rational number. An activity is carried out to relate the mathematical knowledge and let the student do generalizing. </div><div>For Openness, the example given shows that the teacher uses question-answer methods to have students express their own opinion at the explanation stage. In this condition, the teacher gives the opportunity to explain the answers and defend, which match the openness values that need to improve expressive skills in a clear and open way, and the teacher is justifying the answer. For  Mystery value, the example given is a student trying to give their opinion, and the teacher raises awareness and admiration through the idea given, like a student is giving an opinion stating that the number can be divided by 4 and 2, also can divide by 8. But one surprise is given by the teacher, 60 can be divided by 4 and 2 both, but cannot divide by 8 and get a whole number. Thus this example also matches the mystery value. In the nutshell, all examples given in the research paper match to the mathematical values. </div>]]></description>
