My name is Peter Papathanasiou. I'm 25 years old. I just found out that my Greek parents that I've been living with for my whole entire life are not my biological parents.

Mum told me that "my biological parents are my uncle and his wife that's live in Greece." They had two sons, which means I have two brothers that I thought  were my cousins. 

I was shocked, confused ,and the excitement quickly followed the thought of having brothers,not one but two brothers. I always questioned Why my parents were so much older than all the other parents. And why I was the only kid at school without siblings.That was especially weird in large ethnic families. Suddenly, Iit made sense.

Mum leftthe room and returnedwith a pile of photos. "Here" she said, "Vasilios on the left, Georgios right." Looking at the image, I see my own features. Mum shows me a photo of my biological father, Savvas. Finally mum shows a photo of my biological mother, Anna.

It's amazing how my aunt and uncle did it! I don't know How to feel about them now.How will I act when I meet with my brothers? It normally takes two people to bring a life into the world, for me its just happened to be four.

It must have been really hard on mum to keep the truth all these years and wait for the right time to tell me. "Thank you, Mama," I say and kiss her on the cheek to let her know that everything is alright. I hug dad on my way out without any words. I know she'll tell him what it was for. I wander off to again gaze upon the photo of my brothers.

My name is Paikea Apirana. I'm 12 years old. For my whole life I have felt like I have no family and I have been pushed away from my grandfather. I know that my grandfather loves me but he would love me even more if I was a boy. I'm a twin and my brother twin died when he was born and took my mother with him. I think Koro wishes that my brother lived not me.

My family comes from a long line of chiefs stretching all the way back to Paikea, the first whale rider. My brother would been next on the line but he passed away. So Koro has to look for the next chief by putting all the boys to a test to see if they fit to be a chief. I tried to learn from the distance but Koro caught me. I can do everything just like the other boys. I could have been the next chief but it's a tradition that a chief have to be a boy. Do you know how hard it is for me to prove to my grandfather that a girl can be a chief?

I had a school dance on today and we can invite our family so I invited Koro. I was hoping that he would show up because I had a surprise for him. After my dance I have to do a speech. I was writing that speech for Koro. It meant everything to me  but he didn't show up. I was so nervous. I tried to hold my emotions back but I couldn't. I took some deep breaths and continued with my speech.
