As a fan of numerous films, I personally believe that government's censorship can affect on publishing films, but there're going to be films that spread the messages regard of the censorship. The good example of the topic is the film 'Corbeau'. Corbeau is a French film made in the period of World War II, when France was occupied to Germany, the Nazis. Of course the Nazis censored French film industry, which keep French people away from making movies that spread messages of freedom and independence. But despite this, Corbeau gave message of independence of France from Nazis, and spreaded the fact that Nazis' performing unethical behaviors to French. So, I personally believe, on historical view, that films can spread message despite of censorship of government. And I want to talk more about this topic on the debate coming today.

As a person who really enjoys watching movies, it was quite nice to learn about the history cinematography. Although I have never watched a Vietnamese movie and didn't know much about Vietnamese film industry, I realized that it has great potential. Korean movies too were not developed at first but now it is huge and famous around the world. I will make sure to watch movies that you introduced (When the Tenth Month comes, The Scent of the Green Papaya, etc..)
I was also surprised by how fast technology is growing. People could only watch black and white film just 60 years ago! I can't believe it! I have no idea what we can do with more advanced technology in the future.

I can learn evolution of Vietnam movies about this video. It develops from Photo motion with only white and black to modern movie (like Avengers) with various color. Vietnamese movie industry seems to be on the rise, but I understand the problems mentioned within it. Popular celebrities being used in movies rather than trained actors and having a sensitive law on censorship can deeply affect the development of the film industry.

Usually, I am interested in watching and experiencing movies from new countries, so I have seen movies from various countries such as Thailand, Spain, and England. But I've never actually seen a Vietnamese movie. Therefore, I have never encountered a famous Vietnamese film, as well as the history of Vietnam's film evolution. However, I learned more about Vietnam's film history through this video. I also learned more about famous movies and actors in Vietnam. The most impressive part of the Vietnamese students' presentations was that the Vietnamese film industry has recently grown mainly in "comedy" films. This reminded me of the '3S policy', which refers to the policy that make people indifferent in politic by 'Sex, Sports, Screen’. (Screen means media such as movie and drama) It is a policy that the government uses to divert the public's attention from the political field. I think this has to do with media censorship. Media content industries such as movies can have entertainment aspects such as comedy and romance. However, it can also perform the function of criticism of reality while dealing with politics or the tyranny of the powerful. However, if the government allows movies to contain only entertainment through the 3S policy, the function of criticizing the reality of movies will be reduced. Therefore, I think it is necessary to review the recent film industry in Vietnam, which is growing mainly with 'comedy' films. To tell you one thing I'm ashamed of, I don't know much about Vietnamese movies. The Vietnamese actor managed to watch it, but I haven't seen a Vietnamese film yet. Then, why are Vietnamese films less accessible? In the video, you cited the lack of technical skills in Vietnamese movies as an example (although I may have mistaken it for my lack of English skills), but I don't think that's the problem. A good movie can be seen anywhere. You can think of low-budget movies like 'Reservoir Dogs' right now. I think the real problem lies in two kinds of censorship. The first is government censorship, which is especially severe in Chinese movies. I'm a fan of Chinese movies, especially those directed by Stephen Chow, and these days Chinese movies are only gloomy. This is because there is no pleasant comedy like director Stephen Chow, and it is easy to find that they cannot make movies freely because he is afraid of government censorship. The second is self-censorship of media by capital like Hollywood. They don't respect the diversity of movies and push all kinds of independent films out of theaters. The reality is that many Disney movies are pushing beneficial independent films out of theaters right now. In particular, when Thor 4 was released in Korea last time, I remembered that all theaters were covered. In fact, the movie could have been abbreviated to "Christian Bale 1" or "Natalie Portman 3." I wonder what you think about this government and cultural censorship in Hollywood in this respect.

My hobby is watching movies so I usually watched many movies even the other countries. I have seen a Vietnam movie Nham Mat Thay Mua He(Sunner In closed Eyes). So I can watch this presentation video, evolutionary about Vietnam film, more interestingly.
I think that movies have a lot of influence on society. (especially for teenagers.)It can give positive, negative, and any impact that company or director wanted. For example, I didn't have any interest in a labor union but when I saw the movie , I became aware of the unfair treatment of irregular workers for the first time, and I was interested in what kind of policy the government would make to solve this irrationality. However, there are many violent movies so the teenager can easily get bad influence too. Therefore, I think filmmakers and distributors should make more careful screening decisions considering more social impact. I want to talk about how movies can affect society with our students.

Frankly speaking, I didn't know well about Vietnamese movies. However, because of that, I could enjoy the video more.
I found some intersting points in Vietnamese movies compared Korea movies.
First, interestingly, most of Vietnamese movies are comic movies. However, Korea movies are more deep and want to send a several messages to make the better society. So, movies about education, crime, history, the wealth gap are more common than Vietnamese.
Second, in the view of industry, Korea movies started to deveop at early 1900, but because of dictatorship in later 1900, Korea movies are developed after 2000. In contrast, Vietnamese movies are developed earier than Korea.
Through this intersting and unique video, I become curious about Vietnamese movies, so I want to see them.

As a student pursuing a career in film making industry, the video about the evaluation of Vietnamese film was very interesting. From the video, I heard about the technological advance of current movies and the limits of Vietnamese movie including technical issues and the problem of less diversity in movie genres. Nevertheless, it also seems that greatly talented movie directors are also making universal masterpieces. Cheering the growth of Vietnamese film industries, I think we have to discuss, as a future film pioneers, how the film industry should change and develop since lots of personal contents emerged especially on Youtubes, and more people are getting used to short videos. Several poeple in Korea nowadays express some burden to spend their time 1or 2 hours to watch a whole film and even enjoy movies from other 'movie sum-up vieos' in Youtube. In my opinion, the Marvel studio also seem to be aware of this change and their movies are going more faster and more concentrated on CG presentations. Film has two main aspects of art and industry. How aesthetic and meaningful but also succeeded film should be made? How could the movie industry survive along with growing personal video industry? Watching this video I could learn about the history of vietnamese movie industry and the problem they are going through. I personally think the reasons why only popular celebrities are used in the movies and the topic of the movies are limited are beacuse Vietnamese movie industry is still developing actively and because of the lack of support from their government. We do not know whether the government doesn't support the movie industry becuase they are simply not interested or they are not supporting on purpose to control people's interest in politics. However, comedy being the main genre in Vietnamese movie industry can be a advantage too. Like Tiawanese movies that have a lot of romance genre and make a lot of sales through them, Vietnamese movie industry can be known for comedy genre. Regardless of it, the support and interest from Vietnamese government seems needed for the growth and global reputation.
The most significant problem seems to be lack of the clearness in the censorhip. Banning doesn't make people stop watching movies that are banned. The more they ban the movies, Vietnamese people will search for movies from other countries and watch them illegally, which will reduce the consumption in Vietnames movie industry and stop the growth. To avoid getting censored, movie directors will give up on making movies with diversity and instead, continue making the same comedy movies that as we all know, the government doesn't ban. This is why the clearness of the censorship in Vietnames movie industry is needed to fix the problems of having the same comedy movies with popular actors all the time.

I sometimes wonder when I watch movies that are praised worldwide. Has the deliberation on this been fully regulated and verified? Nice presentation ! I cannot but thinking about why I rarely find Vietnamese movies in the film market. Even after hearing your presentation, I really understand this mysterious and unknown field. In fact, it would be terrible for a country's movie to get such an evaluation. I'm not insulting or looking down on something. I just think that Vietnam's CG technology maybe a little inferior to the big countries like the United States, but the quality of the script may not be comparable. How can the popularity of the two be so different?

The answer is not complicated. The biggest reason is Vietnam's political system. Both like China, movies need to be sent to the broadcasting station for review (to check whether there is any content that slanders the government and communism, and in many cases LGBT related content is not allowed), and can only be released after audit. As an audience who often watches Chinese dramas, I am extremely disgusted with such behavior, which directly leads to the fact that good scripts cannot be shot, reviewed and released due to political factors. How can Vietnamese movies which have no creative freedom and are restricted everywhere be famous in the world? Therefore, the limitation of special effects and other technical capabilities is not the main reason why Vietnamese movies are not famous.
