When we talk about the first woman to earn a degree in "robotic engineering," it turns out to be in a difficult question to answer. Over the years, we have seen the intervention of various pioneering and founding women in the field of technology, however, the specific title of my university degree could be considered "new" and there is no record as such of the first woman to graduate through my program, but, when I was researching, I came across contributions in the fields of computing and artificial intelligence from women as Ada Lovelace or Margaret Boden; among them, I found one of a first pioneering women in robotics, she is Ruzena Bajcsy.

Ruzena Bajcsy is an electrical and computer science engineer with contributions in robotics and artificial intelligence subjects. She was born on May 28, 1933 in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia.

Coming from a jewish family during the period of the Second World War, she was orphaned along with her stepsister (daughter of her father's second marriage) and they were transferred to an orphanage in the city until 1947 when she moved to a Catholic orphanage in Bratislava where she began her first academic studies where she excelled in subjects such as mathematics and natural sciences.

At the age of 21 (around 1954) she married with Julius Bajcsy with whom she had two children. He was a man who, based on the statements that she has given in interviews, acknowledges her support in obtaining her studies, so that in 1957 she obtained her first degree in electrical engineering at the Technical University of Slovakia.

When she graduated, she was forced to work for five years in an electronics factory as a form of oppression against the Soviet Union's educational ideologies.

By 1967 she obtained her first doctorate at the Slovak University of Technology, this was an important achievement in her life since she was the first woman in the country to obtain a doctorate in that type of engineering, later in the same year she was invited to study at Stanford University in the United States so that in 1972 she obtained her doctorate in computer science.

Finally, Ruzena has worked as a teacher and founded large convents and laboratories specializing in robotics and computer technology, making her one of the most recognized women in this field.

In Mexico, there are no exact figures for women who have studied robotic engineering, but regarding Ruzena's degree of study, it is known that 16.7 thousand electrical engineers, 2.87 thousand of whom are women, equivalent to 17.18 percent of the entire population.
