Adults learn differently than children, have much different motivations, and face challenges such as balancing their academic goals with work and family life. A student that feels a sense of belonging is more likely to stay engaged and push themselves to succeed. Educators are more than just teachers; they are mentors as well. "Mentoring is a personal interaction in which a mentor shares their knowledge, skills, and experience to help someone else shape their career" (Mackh, 20205, p. 81). Our students come from diverse backgrounds and will face different challenges. Helping them to find the support they need and create their own feelings of self-efficacy will go a long way to increasing their confidence and success rate.
