Today I did not go to school because my brother was graduating from Indiana University. I landed in Indianapolis yesterday at nine in the evening. The actual university was an hour away from Indianapolis, the capital, and it was located in Bloomington. When we arrived there, we took a walk and looked for a restaurant, but almost every single one was either closed or full. There weren’t even that many restaurants in the town, which further limited our options. We finally found a decent looking restaurant after walking around for a while. It was 3:54 PM and the restaurant opened at four. My mom and I had my brothers and my dad wait in the huge line to get in and we were let in before almost anyone. We got a nice spot under a tent, which we realized would be perfect due to the forecast predicting rain. The forecast was right and it started pouring. We had to run back to my brother’s apartment to hide. My brother and dad left because he had to be at the ceremony forty-five minutes before us. We waited until it was almost seven to leave. We made it just in time and started waiting on the balcony seats. I said to my mom, “I wonder how they are going to butcher our last name.” My brother finally came up, and they pronounced our last name “Goodok.” We left the theatre and took a walk through the town and my brothers said goodbye. We split up. My parents and I went to the car and drove back to Indianapolis. Our trip to Alaska began on August 19th with our flight. Our flight was a connecting one through the hub, Atlanta International Airport. We landed in Anchorage and stayed one night in a hotel. The next day, August 20th, we took a small sea plane to fly to a cabin in the forest. The trip took place from the twentieth to the twenty-second. We did lots of exciting things during our time there. For example, we took a hike through a nature trail past a huge lake. The next day, we drove a boat through the same lake. Then, we took a helicopter trip to a glacier. We explored it and then had lunch on the glacier. We took a similar sea plane back to Anchorage on the twenty-third. We had a tour guide give us the run down of what Anchorage was like. They dropped us off at the hotel. We rested for a little and then went outside. We went on a walk around the city and saw a lot of things. We ate and then went back to the hotel. On the twenty-fourth, we took another sea plane to a city named Homer. After this, we went on ANOTHER sea plane, but this time, we flew to a national park. We looked at bears. There were a lot of them and we got to witness them catching salmon from small rivers. We took the same plane back and then took a boat from Homer to another cabin. On the twenty-fifth, we took a boat ride far into the sea and started fishing for salmon. We caught eight king salmon and two silver salmon. King salmon were the most rare types of salmon, and I caught seven of them. We went back and I watched the first Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer. On the twenty-sixth, we took a boat ride back and then drove to an old Russian village to see what it was like. It was exciting to see. We went back to a hotel in Anchorage and slept there over night. We went to the airport on the twenty-seventh and flew to Seattle. On the first day, we walked around and explored a little, but we landed late so we didn’t have much time. On the twenty-eighth, we had a guide show us around and see places like the Space Needle. On the twenty-ninth, the tour guide continued showing us around and then we explored by ourselves.
