3.	Task: £13m per year spent on Active Schools by sportscotland! Is this money well spent? How could it be used differently? Are school and club links as strong as they could/should be?

We feel that the money from SportScotland is spent well on Active schools. Around many schools across the city, we can see that many younger kids are starting to join clubs. Some of which, they may have never tried before. The money that is put into active schools is used to make the childrens or young adults experience more enjoyable. This can include buying new or better equipment for the sessions. The money can also be used on things such as advertisement. All across Dundee you can see flyers and leaflets encouraging people to get their child involved with Active Schools. These can be seen in Schools, local gym or community centres. The money is also used to arrange tournaments throughout the school calender year.

As for the club link, we feel that it is a strong link. Many after school clubs are linked to local teams or clubs and they do encourage younger ones to go along. Active schools tend to get young players etc ready for a competitive environment of which they will get if they go along to a club associated to the schools catchment area. Many clubs see schools as feeders.

The money from SportsScotland is well spent on funding active schools, this organisation runs clubs during and after schools all over the city which allows many children to be involved in all different kinds of sport which sees sports development increasing in schools. The money used from SportsScotland gives a good and happy environment for children to learn and develop skills. The money may be used for things such as new equipment, training grounds and entry into local competitions, and advertisements relating to the club. Many out of school clubs are linked with active schools through early stages of development in school time clubs. The development of young people that active schools offer is positive and can be the beginning of something very special in a child's life.
One way which the money could be used differently is offering a wider range of clubs in more schools, from personal experience there was a lack of athletics clubs and competitions in the early years of school and starting to introduce clubs such as athletics into schools may develop skills that children could use in other sports.

The money spent by SportScotland is very well spent on Active Schools. Active schools run different clubs within schools, which allows groups of children to become involved in a wider variety of sports which may interest them and help them become fitter. The money allows for equipment to be bought and also for training to be given to active schools ambassadors wo work with the schools itself. This may involve gaining sporting qualifications or even just attending training in order to improve their coaching skills etc.
One way the money could be used differently could be using it to create larger competitions throughout the nation in order to challenge those competing at a national level.

The money spent by Sportscotland is spent well on Active schools as it allows different clubs to run within school to get children into sport. It brings a wide number of children to try out new sports and to improve their skills. The money is spent on various things including training courses for coaches to improve their skills/qualifications and also used to buy all the equipment needed. All this leads to greater sport development and healthier kids.
One way which the money could be spent better is by having a more wider range in sports and not to stick to the basic ones like football etc

SportScotland distributes their money well into Active Schools as it allows a very wide range of clubs to operate. This means that many more children are able to get involved in sport. An improvement could be made by suggesting that there should be more equal funding for all sports rather than a lot of the focus being put on the most popular sports such as football.
