Heggerty provides daily lesson plans that focus on phonemic awareness. This is a quick classroom activity that only takes 10 minutes. Heggerty starts out with just repetition and then progresses to where students must provide the answer. A phonics activity that is great for a classroom is picture and word sort. Students will have CVC words that they have to sound out and then match the word to the picture! If students are struggling with the CVC words, they can look for the picture first, name it and then try to find the word.

Fluency

Choral reading is when students read along as a group with a fluent reader, this fluent reader can be an adult or another student. This is a great activity for students to follow along as others are reading and it works on their reading fluency.
