When the allied forces halted the advance of german forces through France this battle became known as The First Battle of the Marne, which started and lasted September 6th-12th, 1914. The First Battle of the Marne was marked as an Allied victory, where the French army and British Expeditionary Force stop Germany's swift advance into France. The whole reason this battle happened was because of the French General Joseph Joffre who decided that it was time for the Allies to counterattack the Germans even though all their soldiers were tired.
