The Monroe Doctrine changed the way European nations viewed the US by forming different opinions. For instance, according to the website, "papers coming out of London were making statements such as, "We must protest against the monstrous assumption that no European Power has the right to interfere in the politics of American States, or to establish colonies in American waste lands.”" This is significant because it shows the disagreement that European nations had with the Monroe Doctrine. The website also states that, "Great Britain at the time expressed that they felt the Monroe Doctrine was, “honest and endurable, as Monroe conceived it” and that the American fear of European monarchs surrounding the Western Hemisphere by colonies “meant to act aggressively against republican institutions” was logical." This is significant because it shows the agreement that European nations had with the Monroe Doctrine.

I think the Monroe doctrine changed the way the European nations viewed the US because this new policy kind of blocked out the European nations. Even thought most European respected the policy it sort of shocked them and they felt kind of violated and shocked America would "call them out" on them. Even though the European nations have been around so much longer than America had. So I think it kind of screwed up the Americans casual relationship with the Europeans.
