- Sandro Botticelli was born on the year of 1445 in Florence, Italy and died May 17, 1510, Florence. He was originally known as Alessandro di Mariano dei Filipepi. The name botticelli came to be from a nickname his older brother called him. During the time of the Florentine Renaissance, Sandro was known to be one of the the greatest painters. His famous art pieces were said to capture the essence of the Renaissance allowing modern day viewers to feel the spirit of the major period in time.

English, Edward. “Botticelli, Sandro.” Encyclopedia of the Medieval World, Vol. 1, Facts On File, 2005.

- After Sandro's school years, his father, that was a tanner apprenticed him to a goldsmith named Filippo Lippi, after previously working with his older brother. While working with Filippo, he learned many technics when it comes to painting and starting building his own style in his artwork. Then Aandro left Florence and came to Spoleto. Because he left, he started working with different Florentine painters of the 1460's to improve as an artist and build his artistic abilities. In the year 1478 -81 he completely developed his artistic style which came to be very popular during the Renaissance.

"Sandro Botticelli." Britannica Academic, Encyclopædia Britannica, 15 Feb. 2024. academic.eb.com/levels/collegiate/article/Sandro-Botticelli/15873.
