         <title>WEEK 1- Hated in the nation</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1.&nbsp; Which types of mentor texts did you engage with this week? Which one was the most interesting to you?-</strong><sub> I watched a visual text called hated in the nation it is an episode from the Netflix series Black Mirror. It was really interesting as it looked into the future with ADI'S which is bionic bees which replace the real bee as they went extinct.&nbsp; </sub><br><br><strong>2. How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?- </strong><sub>This text made me realise that this could actually happen as bees are coming close to extinction and this could be a way around it. </sub><br><br><strong>3. Did this text raise any questions, excitement, or uncertainties about the future? If so, what are they?-</strong> <sub>Yes, it made me realise that this could soon be a reality for us as bees are going into extinction although this is exciting it does raise the question is our technology advanced enough to create a similar product to an ADI before bees do die out.&nbsp;</sub></div>]]></description>

As they are the majority of Australians that still read newspapers.          <title>Short stories- Examination Day </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><strong>Point of View: From whose perspective is the story told? Is it first-person, third-person limited, or third-person omniscient?-</strong><sub> The point of view is third person.&nbsp;</sub></li><li><strong>Setting: In what time and place does the story take place? How does the setting contribute to the overall atmosphere or mood of the story?-</strong> <sub>It is set modern times in a communist country.&nbsp;</sub></li><li><strong>Plot Structure: Identify the main components of the plot - the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. What events mark the transition between these elements?</strong>- <sub>The main point comes in the middle-to end of the story when the Jordans arrive at the government education facility.&nbsp;</sub></li><li><strong>Conflict: What is the central conflict of the story? Is it internal or external, and how does it drive the narrative forward?-</strong> <sub>The conflict is the build up to the exam as the parents are stressed and try to hide it from their son because they don't want him to worry.&nbsp;</sub></li><li><strong>Characterization: Describe the main character, Dickie Jordan. What traits or qualities define him, and how does the author reveal his personality?</strong><sub>- Dicky Jordan is a 12 year old boy in a communist country who is naive and doesn't know what's going on in the world.&nbsp;</sub></li><li><strong>Foreshadowing: Were there any instances of foreshadowing in the story that hinted at the eventual outcome of the examination? If so, what were they, and how did they create suspense?- </strong><sub>Yes we see this when the mum of Dick Jordan first tells him about the examination and the Dad shuts her down by saying "He will do fine" Because he was worried about the outcome of the test.&nbsp;</sub></li><li><strong>Symbolism: Are there any symbolic elements in the story that carry deeper meaning? For example, the significance of names, objects, or actions</strong>.-<sub> No there are no symbolic meanings that I can find in the short story.&nbsp;</sub></li><li>Irony: Discuss any instances of irony present in the story. How do they contribute to the story's message or impact?- </li><li><strong>Tone: What is the overall tone of the story? How does the author's tone influence the reader's perception of the events and characters?-</strong><sub> The tone overall is neutral but the tension builds as they get to the government facility to take the test.&nbsp;</sub></li><li><strong>Title: Analyse the title "Examination Day" and its relevance to the story's central themes and events.-</strong> <sub>The title examination is used to build tension as when people think of exams they get stressed or start thinking about previous experiences with exams which implies that there is a big day ahead of someone.&nbsp;</sub></li></ol><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1.&nbsp; Which types of mentor texts did you engage with this week? Which one was the most interesting to you?-</strong><sub>&nbsp; This week we engaged in listening to a podcast the podcast we listened to is called forrest 404 from there BBC. It is a podcast set in the future playing nature sounds from the 21st century as rainforests are not a thing anymore. I found it interesting as it gives you a Sanrio of two people in the future listening to nature and confused on what it is and talking about how calming it is and how they didn't know what the sounds was. "Our ancestors made some strange music. " <br></sub><br><strong>2. How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?</strong><sub>- This text expanded my understanding of the future as it made me realise that in the future this could be a reality with climate change and global warming. And this could actually be humans listening to a rain forest and not knowing what it is and thinking it's music. </sub><br><br><strong>3. Did this text raise any questions, excitement, or uncertainties about the future? If so, what are they?</strong><sub>- This text raised the uncertainties that we could loose our rain Forrests and other beautiful parts of nature if we are not careful with how we treat our planet. However this podcast did raise the question for me how far ahead in the future are they actually if they don't know what a rain forrest sounds like? </sub></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1.&nbsp; Which types of mentor texts did you engage with this week? Which one was the most interesting to you?-</strong><sub> This week we engaged with modern/old short stories. The short story that interested me the most is called The Examination Day by Henry Slesar the story is about a 12 year old boy who has to sit an examination in a communist country to see if he is too smart to function in society. <br></sub><br><strong>2. How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?-&nbsp; </strong><sub>This text expanded my understanding of the future as it made me realise how far we have come in terms of executions and killing humans for no reason and death is only going to get less and less with modern medicines and new laws. </sub><br><br><strong>3. Did this text raise any questions, excitement, or uncertainties about the future? If so, what are they?-</strong> <sub>This text didn't raise any questions about the future for me as it was set in the past.</sub></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1.&nbsp; Which types of mentor texts did you engage with this week? Which one was the most interesting to you?- </strong><sub>This week we explored the type of text speeches we looked at greta thunburgs Un speech about the environment and Barrack Obama's 2008 Election victory speech the one that interested me the most would have to be the 2008 victory speech as I find that more engaging than the speech pitched to the UN. <br></sub><br><strong>2. How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?- </strong><sub>This text helped me understand what type of president Obama was to the US and what he did for them back in 2008. This speech also helped me understand the structure of the speech and how it should sound when you deliver it. </sub><br><br><strong>3. Did this text raise any questions, excitement, or uncertainties about the future? If so, what are they?- </strong><sub>The speech delivered by Greta Thunburg does raise some uncertainties as if what she is saying is true in a couple of years there could be some serious threats to the environment and our world around us.&nbsp;</sub></div>]]></description>
