One event is when Pony boy comes home late and soda pop is trying to keep Darry from being to mad him,"'...Can't you think of anything? Darry..' Sodapop began,"(44). He did this because he doesn't like seeing his brothers fighting. Another event is when Sodapop gets so frustrated with Darry and Ponyboy's constant fighting that he runs away and bawls in the street like an orphaned koala. "'Don't... Oh, you guys, why can't you... He jumped up suddenly and bolted out the door."(148).

Ponyboy: The Reluctant Hero- He's the reluctant hero because he has no motives to be a hero until he's forced into it. (SAVE THE KIDS!)

Darry: The Hotshot- Darry is always strict with Pony, so he fits this role. "He never hollered at Sodapop- not even when Soda dropped out of school or got tickets for speeding. He just hollered at me,"(12).

Dally: The Skapegoat- In jail at 10, Dally is always causing trouble around town, so the cops go to him when something happens.

Jhonny: The Tragic Hero- Johnny misjudged his amount of time left in the church and caused his own death.

Sodapop: The Confidant- Pony's real personality comes out while he's around Sodapop, so he's the confidant. 

Randy: The Peacemaker- Randy is the peacemaker because he thinks that it's not a good idea to fight. "'I'm not going to show at the rumble tonight,' Randy said slowly,"(99). He also says "'I'm sick of all this. All this fighting. Bob was a good guy,'"(98).

I know better now,"(32). This is foreshadowing to later in the story when he would understand that Socs have problems too. This part is ironic,"'You really killed him, huh, Johnny?'"(50). This is ironic because Johny is the weaker and shy one of the gang and he is the one who ends up killing someone.
