Asia countries majority woman have breast cancer.

This is a story about my late neighbour in my hometown, Manir, Terengganu. Listening to the lecture about breast cancer reminds me of her. She suffered breast cancer and she manage to fight the cancer but then she died earlier this year due to bone cancer. Something that make this story more heartbreaking is her husband died hours after she died because of stroke. I can't imagine how their daughters and sons can go through this, losing both of their parents nearly at the same time but they are surely strong. Since the 'real' Eid is coming on after more than two years of battling with the COVID and in past years we can't really meet our family, we should always remember that not everyone will have happy Eid this year. Some lost their parents, their family members and also friends. Its also remind me that we really need to take care of our health and try to reduce the risk of getting cancer by practicing a healthy lifestyle and do not be shy to share about these things to the doctors so that we can quickly take the next steps to treat the cancer.

Radiation from atom bombs were dropped on Japan in 1945 causing cancer development to the innocents.

I read somewhere that even though it the passed by almost 70 years, Red cross hospital are still treating thousands of survivors and they identify new links between radiation exposure and fatal illnesses. New cases of cancer and leukaemia rates are still emerging and the number of atomic bomb survivors developing heart disease is rising. Mr Taniguchi, one of the survivors spent three years and seven months in hospital. On the day of the bombing, Mr. Taniguchi, then 16, was delivering mail on his bicycle in the northern corner of the city, just over a mile from ground zero. When the bomb detonated overhead, the force of the explosion tossed him into the air, and the heat it radiated melted his cotton shirt and seared the skin off his back and one arm. In 1946, United States forces filmed his treatment. That footage was shared across the world, and Mr. Taniguchi became known as “the boy with a red back" He's in pain all his life and afraid his children would suffer from inheritable radiation effects. The survivors always have the fear of being diagnosed with leukemia or cancer. History actually told us that war isn't always the solution. It affect the whole countries and also the innocents. He continued to speak out until close to death, traveling last year to Malaysia to deliver a speech against nuclear proliferation.

Ovarian cancer risk was positively associated with higher consumption of dietary cholesterol and eggs.

I come across a video which give me new informations that i would like to share today. As we all know, our daily meals always play important role because it is related to our health. However, sometimes i wonder if external factors can also lead to ovarian cancer. I came across a Tiktok video which said talcum powder is related to ovarian cancer. I found that based on many research studies involving thousands of women, those who have used talcum powder are about 30% more likely to be diagnosed with ovarian cancer than women who have not. Most of the evidence comes from a type of study known as a case-control study. Another study explained that when women used talc-based powders in their genital area, the powder may enter the body and irritate tissue in the fallopian tubes or ovaries. This irritation might cause inflammation and start a cascade responses in the body that could contribute to the development of cancer. In its natural form, some talc contains asbestos, a substance known to cause cancers in and around the lungs when inhaled.

A number of occupational carcinogenic exposures led to public health measures to reduce a person’s cancer risk at work.

This is about an occupation that we rarely thought it can also have high cancer risk. It is the firefighters. Firefighters have much higher rates of cancer than the residents they serve due to exposure to carcinogens on the fireground and in the firehouse. Firefighters are also repeatedly exposed to diesel exhaust and residual soot at the firehouse. Firefighters can unknowingly pass them on to their fellow firefighters and loved ones. Cancer caused 70 percent of the line-of-duty deaths for career firefighters in 2016. Firefighters’ risks are significantly higher for some specific types of cancer than the general population. In 2013, NIOSH researchers reported a two-fold excess of malignant mesothelioma, a very rare cancer. Firefighters have a 129 percent increased risk of dying from mesothelioma. They can also be exposed to other cancers including testicular cancer and esophageal cancer. All firefighters, regardless whether they are career or volunteer, put their own lives at risk to save others in their communities. In addition to the danger of putting out fires, firefighters are at an increased risk for different types of cancer due to the smoke and hazardous chemicals they are exposed to in the line of duty. That is why firefighters are thought as heroes especially by children.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) may play a role in the risk for developing cancers.

This remind me of someone whose said after eating satay, it is important to eat cucumber and onion to neutralize the carbon. I thought they served it together just to add flavours and make the serving more interesting. However, there are some reasons why they choose those vegetables. Grilled or barbequed meat contain PAHs which is a chemical carcinogen that can promote cancer. I found that raw cucumber and onion are antioxidant. I read that onions stimulate the demise of cancer cells by activating signaling pathways. They create an unfavorable environment for cancer cells and disrupt cancer cell communication, slowing their growth. Cucumbers contain high levels of bitter-tasting nutrients known as cucurbitacin. According to an article in the International Journal of Health Services, cucurbitacins may help prevent cancer by stopping cancer cells from reproducing. The researchers have also recently determined onions are effective at killing breast cancer cells.

UVB is the most important fractions as far a skin carcinogenesis is concerned.

It came across my mind when sunscreen is very popular among us nowadays with various cosmetic brands. But how far can sunscreen protect our skin? University of Rochester Medical Center states that higher SPF numbers mean greater protection from UVB rays. But, no sunscreen can block all UVB rays. For example, a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays. A sunscreen with an SPF of 50 blocks about 98% of UVB rays. Some said that chemicals used in sunscreens are absorbed by the skin and cause cancer. However, there is no medical evidence that sunscreen causes cancer. Although I am very lazy to do the skincare routine, I guess I need to start applying sunscreen on my skin. My cousin also told me to apply it even though we just stay at home. A dermatologist said that UVA rays which contribute to skin ageing and skin cancer can reach us even when we are indoors or in car, this is because UVA rays have a longer wavelength as compared to UVB rays. The rays, which can penetrate through glass windows and clouds, also cause skin cancer by breaking down DNA and directing toxicity. I also found an article where the face of an elderly truck driver shows how the sun's powerful and dangerous UV rays can slowly destroy the fabric of the skin. And the left of the man’s face, the side has been exposed to UV rays through his window, is visibly more damaged than the right side which is relatively smooth by comparison. UV rays destroy the skin’s elastic fibres which causes the driver’s deep wrinkles. These rays are responsible for seeping deep into your skin and breaking down collagen, which is the main cause for wrinkles.
