https://youtu.be/I1_zBdSRXvg, A Hundred Billion Trillion Stars by Seth Fishman.
This book is not only about science but it is about numbers, numbers in the trillion and billions. This book could be used interdisciplinary in Math, technology, and art. Because this book talks about time, time is a standard that needs to be covered. Also, students could use technology to research stars and then write a couple of sentences of their findings. Finally, they could draw a picture of what the galaxy looks like in their minds.

https://youtu.be/0MvD-adzgUM
Look Up! Bird-Watching in Your Own Backyard written by Annette LeBlanc Cate has some pages written in a graphic novel style and discusses birds from all over the world keeping children engaged and wanting to learn more. As an interdisciplinary book, I would use this as a shared reading when working as a whole class. I would also have the students compare and contrast the birds. Finally, I would use this in Art having the students pick their favorite color and then finding all the birds that have that color and then pick one to make an art piece of.

Activities like painting and the basic needs of Horace Pippen could be created and placed in the hallway for all to see. History would be discussed because Horace is a famous African American person that learned to paint with his injured arm. Show that Horace overcame a challenge will support social and emotional needs.

What a wonderful book to read to students just before Thanksgiving. This book is interdisciplinary with English Language Arts. Students can retell the story using the illustrations along with how the main character is feeling. They could also have a discussion about the problems the main character had and how he solved them. As a group during the discussion, the teacher can introduce cause and effect or do a character trait list on the smartboard. For a science activity, the students could make their own balloons to share on Thanksgiving Day while watching the Macy's Day Parade.

This book will get students thinking about how to solve the problems that Misala is having within the story. The teacher could start by asking questions to get them to think critically before they see the answer to the problem. This book is great for interdisciplinary English Language Arts. The students need to identify words and phrases from the storytelling and how the main character feels. As an activity the students could create their windmill and then try it in the wind or the teacher could use a hair blowdryer to see if it works.
