I think when people say America isn't racist they are thinking "America has had a black president and now a WOMEN black vice president" but when they say this do they realize that that is only 1 president out of 46 and 1 vice president out of 49! Officials don't want to have that uncomfortable conversation about racism and the police brutality that has continued for years. Maybe the election of Obama and Kamala are baby steps but the contributions each of them made/making are going to push change forward. People expect POC to be Democrats. There are Black Republicans who are "racially conscious" but other people of this political party would rather have Black people who "prove" that discrimination is not important to Black people.
