I chose this quote because it explains how Liz feels toward her family and St. Anne's home. Liz knows she wants something out of life, but not sure what she should strive for. As a teacher, this makes me aware that some children do not have a lot of options. Home life may not be the best place to be especially if it is extremely transit. Even though some students choose to leave their homes in search of a better life. It may allow teachers to help them gain supports. Supports can help them earn their education safely without the worry of food, housing, or feeling like they are in a prison. Sometimes observing the student can allow you to gain more information about their lives. Moreover, sometimes students who are struggling may not know there are people out there who do want to help.
