I believe that punishments should involve violence depending on the crime that has been committed. For example, a serial killer definitely deserves a violent punishment, but not getting an A in school shouldn’t involve a violent punishment.
Parents should keep in mind not to use to much of violence towards their children for it could lead to future mental health issues and school should definitely not use any violence at all for they do not have the same rights as parents.

In my opinion, I think punishments could involve violence but to an certain extent and it should relate to what the situation is. Like for example, there are terrible criminals in the world so if they cause harm which leads to a death sentence I would go with it because the pain they caused isn’t justified. I also this that violence could be used to discipline a child if their mistakes are repetitive.

I think that punishments should never resort to violence, this is because acting violent towards other people is also considered a crime by law. I believe that punishment should just either end in prison or to be isolated (if the person is dangerous) in a prison with a tight defense far from land. Violence may be used when a repetitive crime happens (stealing continously, violence to other people continously). Depending on the situation, the ‘violence’ would also differ. Repetetive Violence for small mistakes should not be acted towards children, this is because 90% of serial killers come from abusive parents and parents not taking responsibility towards their child by abandoning them. This can also be considered as child abuse.

I don’t think punishments should involve violence until the problem has become repetitive or is very severe. I think that a parental figure should be allowed to physically discipline their children, but to an extent and only due to a repeated or severe mistake. However, I do not think that schools should be allowed to physical punishment students as they do not have the same right parents do, and their use of physical violence does not help them learn but just angers them. Repeated violence from parents can be considered as abuse, there is a line between abuse and discipline and I believe that discipline is a small physical punishment to help deter the child from repeatedly committing the act, such as a slap. Abuse could be a repeated unwarranted act of physical violence such as whipping or punching. Although, violence may impact the behaviour and mental of a child, a small punishment such as a slap may be enough to help deter the child from committing the mistake .

I disagree to a certain extent. I feel as though criminals with vicious crimes such as r@pe, serial murders and mass genocides should be punished accordingly and tortured for the severity of their crimes. They should get a taste of their own medicine as to what their victims felt for their cruel acts. However, minor crimes such as theft should be jailed at most, for their crimes are not so major. Crimes that involve brutal violence or severe trauma for victims should be met with an equal force, if not more, for subjecting their victims to their horrendous acts. In the case of arm robbery, gun threats and school shootings, they should at least get jail time for the trauma they cause their victims, and extra harsher punishments (such as years added to their sentence) for more casualties caused.

I don't think violence should be used as a punishment, because how will inflicting violence on a person change what crime they committed. I think if they committed a crime like murder they should be put in a maximum security prison.

In countries such as Norway where rehabilitation is used the recommit rate is 20% however in other countries that focus on punishment such as the US the recommit rate is 60%. This proves that rehabilitation not only improves the convict but keeps the general public safe as well. On top of that the crime rate is countries that do rehabilitation right like Norway has a ratio of 0.54 wrongdoers per 100k whereas other countries like the US have a crime rate of 6.52 per 100k. This proves that ‘punishment scares the people from doing wrong’ is just a myth and should never be proven as fact.

I believe that the objective of punishment is deterrence and rehabilitation. Violence either doesn't do that or is replaceable. Being locked up for several years is a good enough reason to not commit crimes, and it can lead to mental issues and resentment of the government. What we need is to isolate them from society and give them education and therapy.

However, if the problem is very severe or becomes repetitive it might be a good idea to use violence as a punishment. For example, a serial killer deserves to get tortured and be imprisoned. This would make them less likely to commit their crimes again if they are llet out.

In my opinion, for crimes such as murder, violence and other severe means of punishment are warranted as it would hopefully be a deterrent for others to commit the same crime. Furthermore, the death of the perpetrator could help the family of the deceased person feel at peace. In addition, it would be generally fair to provide a punishment equal to the crime committed. It also makes sense for parents to use violence as for a young child who is still learning what is right and wrong, a slap can be as much of a stoppage for what they have done as death for a criminal.

I believe that the degree of punishments usually depends on issue/crime. On one hand, violence should only be used when there is no other choice, for example violence is used during war times when forcing informations out of the enemy. On the other hand, in a time of relative peace, the use of violence is frequently associated with emotions in smaller events, like for example when someone has been trigger (eg. You made someone mad), they will automatically want to punish that you by using violence. If someone has committed multiple extreme crimes, then they will either be jail or executed (which I personally don’t think is violence as death is straightaway and there is no suffering). In conclusion, even though the use of violence depends on the situation, I believe that violence should never be used to punish someone, if it’s a small crime, there will be other ways to punish a person, if it’s a big crime, then they will be killed or jailed. So what’s the point of using violence? It never resolves any issue.

In my extremely humble (and correct) opinion, I think that violence should be involved in some cases. If the criminal affected someone, they should have the opportunity to have the same experience. But the ones who have major charges like mass murder, sexual abuse and 🤬. The punishment for the worst these of crimes should be execution, by lethal injection. If their case is not as bad and the assailant can be rehabilitated then they should have the chance to go through rehab, similar to Norway’s rehab prison.

I believe that punishments should involve violence, however, it should depend on what crime the person has committed. If the criminal has been put in jail for attempting to or hurting others, they should be met with something violent (eg. beatings). If a person were to do something for self-defence or their own survival, I do not think they deserve violent punishment. I think this because of the fact that intent is important. Malice always has a reason behind it.

For example, if someone were to murder another person for fun, would you simply just let them be in jail without understanding what they really did? Most people cannot sympathise with others unless they went through what they did. In addition, this will probably make them less likely to commit their crime again if let out.

Of course, this does not apply to those who killed to protect themself as it is a natural instinct to fight back when met with serious danger.
