The movie Mr. and Mrs Smith relates to the quote on a basis that both characters being depicted are guilty of the acts they've committed. The synopsis of the movie entails that husband and wife, John and Jane are both guilty of hiding the secret of their occupation from one another. John and Jane are both guilty of hiding the secret which compares to the guilt Macbeth and Lady Macbeth share when hiding the identity of the murderer of King Duncan.

In Trump's case, his tax returns; and in Hilary's her deleted emails-both individuals were "wearing a heart so white" as they portrayed themselves as innocent of hiding factors that could've affected their campaign.

After researching the connotation of the quote, I realized that relating it to current events was not as easy as it conveyed to be. Shakespeare depicted a situation in which both parties were guilty of an act, yet they differed from one another by means of who accepted the sin they committed and who allowed cowardice to consume them. Through the quote, Shakespeare highlights how Lady Macbeth's ridicule of Macbeth's cowardice or mask or innocence leads to his self-demise.
