         <description><![CDATA[<div>U.S President Johnson reported to the attacks to Congress without mentioning the South Vietnamese raids or the doubts about the second attack.  Believing that the attacks had been unprovoked, Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution on August 7, 1964. The resolution authorized the president to take all necessary measures to prevent further aggression in Southeast Asia.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During the Vietnam war Johnson and his programs weren't very honest with the people. He just told them what they wanted to hear, which was yes. When they asked if they were winning the war it was yes, when they asked if the war would be over soon it was a yes. Johnson's tactic worked until veterans were coming back from war and telling how bad it was. This overall created a credibility gap and lost trust in the government.</div>]]></description>
