Since then, I have volunteered and worked in different capacities with various not for profit organizations in Peel and Halton such as Connections, Peel Multicultural Council, Links2Care, Active Adult Centre Mississauga, Safe City Mississauga for Neighbourhood Watch Program and Community Food Drives for the local food banks. This has inspired me to gain more knowledge about the needs of marginalized communities, awareness of available resources and systemic gaps. Thus the motivation to attend Sheridan College to complete my SSW Diploma with Internship in order to better serve individuals, families, groups and communities. Selecting the Grant Writing course will enable me to gain in-depth knowledge about the non profit sector, funders and be more creative about conducting research in relevant areas. My hope is that this course will also equip me to effectively communicate with funders about urgent needs of different programs in the society and their impact on the mental and physical health of the community members.

This impacted me immensely and I have tried to continue this practice of hope.
