This term has had its ups and downs, but I feel confident that I'm on track to get an A in Math. I've been doing well on quizzes and tests, consistently scoring high, which shows I understand the material and can apply it well. I’ve also made sure to complete all my homework on time and do it carefully, which has helped me keep up with what we’re learning and spot any areas I need to work on. While I’m happy with my progress, I know there are still areas I can improve, like not rushing through practice problems and taking more time to really understand the harder concepts. Going forward, I’ll focus on these areas and make sure I fully grasp the material. Overall, I’m confident that I’ll earn an A this term. With just a few weeks left, I feel good about my progress so far and plan to keep reviewing, staying organized, and asking for help when needed. I’m excited to finish the term strong and reach my goal.

Specific:
My goal this term was to get an A in Math, and I feel confident that I am on track to achieve that. I’ve been focusing on scoring well in quizzes and tests and completing all my homework, which aligns with my goal of improving my performance and achieving a high grade.

Measurable:
I’ve been measuring my progress through the high scores I’ve earned on quizzes and tests, as well as my consistent completion of homework assignments. I’ve been aiming to score above 90% on my assessments, and I’ve been successful in meeting this target so far. Tracking my progress this way has shown me that I’m moving in the right direction.

Attainable:
This goal has been realistic and achievable based on my current performance. I’ve been putting in the effort by studying regularly and staying on top of my assignments, which has allowed me to perform well. While there are areas I can still improve, such as fully grasping more challenging concepts, I believe I can meet my goal by continuing my current approach and focusing on the areas that need more attention.

Relevant:
Getting an A in Math is important to me because it will contribute to my overall GPA and help me build a strong foundation for future academic goals. I’ve stayed motivated and focused on this goal because I know it will have a positive impact on my academic success in the long term.

Time-Bound:
I set the goal of achieving an A by the end of the term, and I am confident that I will meet this deadline. With only a few weeks left in the term, I’ve been maintaining my focus and ensuring that I am prepared for any remaining tests or assignments. I plan to continue reviewing regularly and making the most of the time left to finish strong.

The most challenging task this term has been keeping track of my homework assignments. While I’ve been consistent with completing them, there have been times when the homework was not posted in Google Classroom, making it difficult for me to stay organized. Sometimes I would forget about assignments altogether, or I would miss them because they weren’t listed in the app. This lack of consistency in where and when the homework is posted created some confusion, and I had to rely on other methods, like asking classmates or checking in with the teacher, to make sure I hadn’t missed anything. This has been the biggest obstacle for me, but I’ve been trying to stay more proactive by double-checking with the teacher or reviewing the class notes regularly to avoid missing assignments.

One misconception I had about linear functions was related to slope and y-intercept. At first, I thought the slope of a line always represented the rate of change between the two variables, and that it was the same in every situation. I didn’t fully grasp that the slope could represent different things depending on the context. For example, in some problems, the slope might represent speed or cost, while in others, it could represent time or distance. I also misunderstood how the y-intercept worked. I thought the y-intercept was just the point where the line crossed the y-axis, but I didn’t realize that it also represented the starting value of the dependent variable when the independent variable is zero.

Once I got more practice with graphing and analyzing real-life situations involving linear functions, I realized that understanding the context of the problem was key to interpreting the slope and y-intercept correctly. I also became more confident with interpreting the meaning behind the equations of linear functions, not just solving for x and y. This shift in understanding helped me better connect linear functions to practical examples.

One of my best works this term has been my performance on the quizzes, long tests, and periodical exam. I consistently scored high on all of them, which I’m really proud of. For the quizzes, I was able to quickly recall and apply what I had studied, which helped me get great scores and feel confident in my understanding of the material. The long tests were a bit more challenging, but I was prepared and managed my time well, ensuring that I could answer all the questions carefully. My periodical exam was another highlight. I felt that it really tested my overall knowledge, and I was able to demonstrate a strong grasp of the topics we had covered throughout the term. Scoring high on these assessments was a clear reflection of my hard work and dedication to studying. I believe these tests show that I’ve truly understood the concepts, and they have been my best works so far this term.

During our Math Alternative Assessment, I had the opportunity to collaborate with my classmates to complete a paper full of math problem-solving items. As the leader of the group, I made sure that everyone understood how to approach each problem. I explained the steps for solving the word problems and clarified any concepts that seemed confusing. My groupmates and I worked together, with each of us taking turns to solve different problems, while also offering help and guidance to each other along the way. We made sure to discuss our reasoning behind each solution and double-check our work, ensuring that everyone understood the methods and solutions. There were moments when we had doubts or encountered difficult questions, but we worked through them by sharing ideas and offering support. Through this experience, we not only completed the assessment successfully, but also strengthened our teamwork skills and deepened our understanding of the math concepts we were tackling. It was a great example of how collaboration and communication can lead to better learning and problem-solving.
