Before students can care about a topic, they need to see how it connects to their own lives and passions. We can use a simple tool like a Google Form to gather information about their personal interests. The goal is to find out what truly excites them.

Give your student opportunities for choice. In a reading unit, instead of assigning one book, provide a curated list of three or four books around a central theme, "courage," and let students choose which one to read.

We can establish group collaborations. Each group can have its own division of roles, ensuring every member can participate. Their work can then be posted on the discussion board created to create opportunities for students to give feedback.

To engage all students in class, it is important to give them options to collaborate with their peers. A lot of students feel more comfortable sharing their ideas when they have a collaborative environment. They are able to learn from one another and they are able to share different perspectives. I think students also have more fun when they get to work with others.

I can engage all students by creating lessons that are interactive, inclusive, and connected to their interests and experiences. This can be using group discussions, hands on activities, or technology tools that make learning a lot more enjoyable. I can also check in with students to ask for their input, and give them choices in how they learn or show what they know. By making learning relevant and collaborative, I can help every student feel motivated and involved in the classroom.
