I would use this model because students are being given full control over the pathway, pace, time, and environment that they choose to learn in. Learning is being driven by objectives, but content becomes more wholistic, incorporating all content areas and learning process. Project-based learning and labs represent the majority of the learning process and are facilitated by the instructor. Core content materials are completed in an asynchronous form, so students can be working through the content at their own pace. This is a complete shift in mindset where student mastery is no longer defined by a grade, but by mastery on set goals.

What can we do to incorporate more challenging activities for our younger students?

I really liked how students were able to use Independent time to learn at their own pace during the Flipped learning and focus on thier own work. Another thing that I liked was the "buddy time" students were able to openly discuss and collaborate with each other. Also incorporate break time for studnets to disengage and openly ask teachers questions/ feedback.
