Yes, there is a rhyme. The last word in the second line and the last word

in the fourth line rhyme in each stanza. The poet is drawing attention

to specific sounds and words because it creates a rhythm that is

catchy and easy to sing or read along to.

"It's easy if you try...Above us only sky"

Line two and line four of the first stanza demonstrate a good example

of the rhyming.

In today's society, war and other conflicts still exist. The poem connects to our current society because it talks about imagining if none of the conflicts that exist today, disappeared. Also in the line, "I hope someday you'll join us," can be targeted towards everyone, including the people that cause the problems in the world. The poem also relates to all of the people that contribute to try to join this movement. Overall, the poem is trying to achieve peace awareness.

"Imagine" is clearly stating to us as readers and music listeners to live in peace and harmony. Society is destroying our world-- it is telling us what the would be like if certain things happened, to IMAGINE what our world would be like if the world was all at peace.

This photo shows that peace is not present everywhere, and in John Lennon's poem, he talks about how gratifying it would be if peace was achieved throughout the world.

The song creates a image in one's mind while listening. The song is telling us to look at the world with good vibes, to see the world without war, without a fight, or without a rebellion, and greed. A title is mirror image of art. "Imagine" is telling us to image a greater, more peaceful world.

There are a few symbols in "Imagine." For instance, peace is prominent throughout the entire poem because of its involvement on ending wars. In addition, the symbol of possessions represents all the negativity seeded in the world. Possessions symbolize the idea of materialistic items and the desire of superiority that cause the disorder in the world.

The poem/song reasons that if there was no need for materialistic items and power, wars could end and happiness would reveal. Although "Imagine" is a descriptive and well-written poem, it does not illustrate many examples of imagery. However, consistently throughout the poem, John Lennon does describes his and others' wishes of peace for the world and speaks of examples of how this can be achieved.

SIFT 7 - Figurative Language

Perhaps the only metaphor in the poem is the "dreamer"; an individual that believes in a cause for world peace. By "joining" them, the audience is able to participate in bringing about this goal.
