1. My name is Rei Serafica, and I'm an associate professor in the School of Nursing. I teach at all levels, from pre-nursing to undergraduate to accelerated second back, and master's courses (education and Psych NP) and doctoral (DNP and Ph.D.). I do enjoy it, and I have been teaching since 2010. I would say I am truly blessed with my current position. It gives me the flexibility to be a researcher, educator, and clinician. I practice also as a Psych NP in an inpatient hospital here in the valley.
2. I love teaching in general; when I was a kid, my childhood friends and I would pretend that we were in the classroom, and I would teach them "Math." I also belong to a family of educators. My grandfather was a high school teacher, and my Mom was an elementary teacher before she retired.
3. I will let you answer the third question since this is more applicable to you. But I want to share my hope for you after you finish the program. I hope that this course and the program itself can stimulate your creativity and play a role in helping you find a new dream or several dreams that, for you, are worth pursuing. For example, you may imagine a new way of being an educator, a learner, or a leader in an educational organization. I also hope you will closely examine the ideas that we learn from this course, not to determine whether they are right or wrong but to determine whether they are helpful.

1 Hello, my name is Donna Evangelista. I am a part-time clinical instructor for NSC. I teach mostly pediatric clinicals, but sometimes, I teach community clinicals as well. I am also a charge nurse in the pediatrics department at UMC.
2. I enjoy teaching clinicals because I love seeing students face light up when they put theory with practice together. I enjoy explaining how to take care of the pediatric population and their families.
3.I hope to continue to learn how to be an efficient educator. So far, I have learned about assessments and evaluations. I have learned about research and applying research. I am learning so many things in this program and I appreciate all of it. These will all be applied for when I become a clinical educator or a nursing professor one day.

1. Hello Everyone, I’m Michelle Bluth and I have been a nurse for almost 13 years. I’ve played in critical care, Cath lab, and the ED. I am currently in an ophthalmology clinic working in there OR as a circulating nurse. I have taught ECG courses during my time in the hospital and loved it!

2. What inspires you to be a nurse educator?
Watching students have those light bulb moments where things just start to click is incredible to witness. I love learning myself and enjoyed conversations with students as they were processing information.

3. What do you want to get out of this program, and then what do you want to do with that?
I hope to continue to build on the foundation I have already built in the program. I have learn a lot about teaching strategies and how to apply them to a variety of students. I have also learned a lot about the many ways to utilize evaluations and assessments. I hope to incorporate all of that knowledge and what I learn from this semester to help me transition to a clinical educator in a hospital or educator my local community college nursing program.

1. Hello, I’m Teresa Praus. I am not currently in a nurse educator role; however, I previously held an adjunct clinical faculty position with Touro University for providing clinical rotations in cardiology for APRN and PA students as well as DO residents. In addition, as part of my previous role in professional administration, I assisted with creating the education for lab competency, 12-lead ECG, covid vaccine education and administration, and working with Sim for mock codes.

2. My mentors inspired me to be a nurse educator. I have learned from some of the best; my graduate professors stretched me further than I ever thought I was capable. Connecting with a student to allow them to feel supported and realize their potential motivates me; this was the opposite of my undergraduate experience – I know what type of educator I would like to be and what type I do not want to be.

3. I want to better understand how to develop and evaluate nursing curricula, make the curriculum an enjoyable experience for diverse populations, and connect with students authentically. I would like to become certified, and I look forward to learning more about this process in future conversations.

1. Hey guys, as I mentioned, I am currently a bedside nurse, preceptor, and relief charge nurse in the cardiac ICU. I also teach hemodynamics and pulmonology for the new grad to ICU program. I am currently transitioning into the role of a cardiac nurse navigator in response to a huge surge in surgery cases at our hospital. I'm very nervous but excited for that. Nervous because I will be building the program, but excited because I will be involved in education.

2. I really want to significantly impact this world in a positive manner, and nursing education is a good way to do so. Hopefully I can change lives to the degree in which I intend to. If I cannot, then hopefully I have the will and drive to find another avenue that allows me to.

3. Hopefully I can obtain the knowledge and tools necessary to either become an educator at UNLV or UMC. Also, I heard that it is important to get certified once we obtain our degree, so I am hoping that this program will provide me with the knowledge and application to pass the certification examinations the first time around. I hope that this course, in particular, gives me insight on how to create engaging, interesting curriculum that improves the ideologies, practice, and learning outcomes of my students.

1. Hello everyone, my names Nicholas Curry. I am still a "baby nurse" with only 2 years of experience but I feel my 2 years in the ICU has helped me learn a lot in a little amount of time (obviously I have much to learn). I have preceptor students in clinical but I am not currently a nurse educator.

2. What inspired me to become a nurse educator was my preceptor experience in level 4 of nursing school. To be blunt I had horrible preceptor experiences with the CDI's provided at UMC and was ready to consider a different major. Then, in level 4 during my critical care rotation I had a preceptor named Matt who was incredible. He single handedly changed my perception on nursing and inspired me to stick with it. Now I want to provide that amazing preceptor experience to other students when they need it most.

3. From this program I hope to learn the necessary tools and processes to convey complex nursing topics to students in a comprehensive concise manner. My goal is to become a clinical nurse educator part time while continuing to work in the ICU and build my critical care experience.

1) Hi everyone, my name is Nicole Diddi; I graduated with my BSN from UNLV in 2010. Since graduation, I have been a nurse in several different capacities but now work as a preop/PACU nurse in Las Vegas. I am not currently an educator but have recently assumed the role of employee health nurse and I foresee a lot of teaching involved in this position.
2) I have had the privilege of precepting several students in my nursing career and really enjoyed the experience. I have always wanted to advance my career in nursing; and while researching the various career paths, obtaining an MSN in education seemed to provide a wide array of opportunities.
3) Upon completing this class, I hope to possess a greater understanding of how various nursing curricula are developed. I would like to gain a deeper understanding of how to develop curricula that is fun and engaging for students while still meeting course objectives. I'm looking forward to a great semester and interacting with all of you!

Hello everyone my name is Christopher Jackson and I’ve been a nurse for seven years and I’m currently working as an ICU nurse at the VA hospital of Southern Nevada. I graduated from UNLV with my BSN in 2016. I’m not currently a nurse educator in any official status but I have been a preceptor for many student nurses, new nurses, and transferring experienced nurses.
2. My time as a preceptor and the people I’ve had the pleasure of educating have really influenced my desire to continue with becoming a nurse educator. I’ve always wanted to advance my education beyond my BSN and nurse educator kept coming back as the thing I felt I would enjoy the most and so far I’ve enjoyed what opportunities I’ve had to educate and what I’ve learned in the program so far.
3. The one thing I most want to get out of this program is the tools to properly educate our diverse learner’s and their unique learning needs. I know it’s not easy to reach every individual student but I hope this program prepares me with everything I need for both myself and my learners to succeed.
