Giants all over the Hoover Square. They had come from all over Europe to celebrate the baptism of Fiere Margriet (“Proud Margaret”), Leuven’s own giant who’d been “born” last year. She’s the third giant of the city and now walks alongside giant Jan Van den Graetmolen and Kobe Koeieschieter.

In Poland Christmas Eve is on 24th December. People make twelve traditional dishes and give each other presents. We gather up with whole family and sing carols together. We divide the wafer and make wishes.
We have New Year Eve at night from 31st December to 1st January. We go to the party with friends, dancing and singing. At 12pm we set off a fireworks and make wishes each other to have happy New Year and drink champagne.

Easter is the most important holiday in Poland. The first Day we eat breakfast with family, spend time with them and go to the church. Second day is called "Wet Monday". We splash another with water and have fun.
The most liked holiday in Poland is Fat Thursday. This day is the last thursday before the fast. People buy a lot of donuts and eat as many as possible. To get them people stary in very long queues but is worth it.

In Poland we’ve got 5 national dances, called ,,krakowiak”, ,,polonez”, ,,mazur”, ,,oberek”, ,,kujawiak”.

Krakowiak - lively dance from around Kraków. 🏰
Polonez - slowly, court dance. We dance polonez on our prom before Matura 📚 (secondary school certificate).
Mazur - it comes from Mazowsze (region of Poland). It’s dynamic & lively.
Oberek - the fastest of our national dances. Very cheerful 😆
Kujawiak - the slowest of polish dances 🐌
All of these dances have their unique costumes. 👢🎩

Easter Week is one of the most important celebrations in this region of Spain, since throughout these seven days, the Holy week parades in Andalucia are experienced in a very particular and intensive way.You can experience the passion of El Cautivo, the Señor of Málaga, enjoy the joy and revelry behind the Christ of Los Gitanos…. The images kept by the churches during the year are taken out on a tour, Mounted on beatuful floats and accompanied by beautiful floral embellishments. The procession is accompanied by a proccesion of people around the streets and all the people come together to watch it and pray. Every float and procession includes its own musical accompaniment. Throughout the year, bands rehearse the traditional Holy Week melodies giving them a sad sound. Trumpets and drums are the instrumnets most commonly used.

In our country is very common to see the famous Easter Processions. You can find there a lot of images of Jesus and other sants. It is very impressive because ther is a lot of people holding these images. The mots populars are the processions of Seville and Malaga I love them!!

DOUGHNUT AND BORRACHUELOS

It is a typical southern dessert of Spain.

We made this dessert during the year and also in the Easter. In my village we make with my family in my farm house. The doughnut we make the mass and add spices and the borrachuelos do the mass and expand. Also my grandmather do custard, rice pudding, creme caramel and torrijas.

END OF THE YEAR: GRAPES AND STROKES

On December 31 the Spaniards got together with our families and friends for dinner and at twelve o'clock ... the strokes!! which are broadcast live from the "Plaza del Sol" (Madrid), with each stroke we eat a grape, in total 12 grapes, one for each stroke representing the twelve months of the year. Children who don't like grapes tend to eat 12 small chocolates.

A funfair is a social, economical or cultural event in a town. It wants people to spend their time here and have lots of fun.
Here, in Spain, they're usually mobile and for a short time (a week)
The most common types of big settled fairs here are:
*Feria de Abril (Sevilla)
*Feria del Libro (all cities)
*Ferias taurinas (bull-fighting)

Almost every year, there's a big fair in my town, Almería. It's a big, mobile fair with lots of rides for people of all ages! Children usually go to the fairs wearing the typical spanish costume: flamenco's costume.

When I was a child, I wore it too. We always went with my family to these social events, and now I'm older, so I can go with my friends.
We always have fun here. We try to go on all rides that we can, and then we have dinner here.
A complete big roasted potato with corn, mayonnaise, tuna and carrot is the best to finish the day!!!

Hello my name is pablo martinez molina and i am going to talk you about my hollidays . this holiday, i went to my grand parents house in malaga it was fantastic , we watch a lots of films. Some mornigs i went to the beach to do exercises with my friends, At night i went wiht my family to the processions . And finaly when i was in my house í did prep for the school.

This Easter I have stayed in my city where I went to saw the processions.
At the morning the weather was sunny and I went rollerblading with my friends in the promenade.
And we ate typical easter food like torrijas, easter soup... .

The night of the 23rd of June we celebrate san Juan. Families and friends go to the beach and light bonfires. They ask for a wish and burn the bad things of the year on the fire. They also make barbecues and have fun together.

This is a very typical tradition in Aguadulce, Roquetas de Mar held on the 29th December. Years ago fishermen went to fish for months and women and children waited for them, on their return they made fires and grilled fished to celebrate that they were back. Today families go to the beach to keep this tradition and enjoy together.
