We can discover who the audience of a text is through certain clues included in the text. To illustrate, the tone of a text wether it be calm or persuasive or such can show us the purpose behind why the audience are listening to the speech in the first place. When studying an eminent speaker we can make an assumption that they most likely are masterful at giving the audience what they want in irder for them to hear them out. For example, if an audience is in a vulnerable state and have just faced a tragedy the speaker may use a comforting tone or such. In addition, many words in the text can give a clue so for example calling the audience "children" shows their age and such.

The reader will be able to develop an understanding of the audience that the speaker is talking to through the language used. As we had observed with Truth's speech "Ain't I woman?" her language created two polarizing parties, as her use of the kind, more motherly word of "children" implied an audience who she cared about, yet the harsher, more mature version of the word "the white man" gave the impression that there were some outliers and offenders in her audience. As such, we can use the diction that the writer had chosen to use to infer how they perceive their audience. Moreover, we can do the exact same thing suing the speaker's tone in their text. As observed in the "9/11 Speech" text, we can clearly tell that Former President Bush had respected his audience and felt a connect to them that went to a patriotic level, as he often used the word "we" and talked to his audience as a united force against one party. As such, we can use the tone that the writer had chosen to write with to infer how they perceive their audience.

When wanting to identify the audience there are many factors you should study since some of them present clues ie keywords, including language used. One factor that could affect the audience widely is the use of different perspectives and expectations. For instance, in “Ain't i a woman” Truth knew that if she didn't speak out, no one would stand out for black woman or any woman for that matter; truth was courageous because saying what she said in the 1850’s is amazing and even considered revolutionary, she wanted to become someone who was once a slave to someone much more than that, she represented women's rights and was actually listened to since no one would walk around and talk about their rights mostly afraid of being killed or seen as a threat. We can infer that the audience was for women, people who are fighting for equal rights or have the same values as truth. Looking back at what Nada said, we knew this from the use of two different affiliations, one where she used the word ‘children’ presumably that she feels for her audience, and referring to them as children means she has some sort of love and affection for them. She then also refers to her audience as ‘honey’, we can see her endearment. Whereas when it came to the other party she was harsh, nonetheless they deserved it. She often refers to ‘white men’ which strongly surreals the feeling of hatred and resentment that she feels since she discredits and belittles all their ideas. Moreover, we can tell who the audience or demographic is from the use of certain terminology.
