The authorization timeline for the International Baccalaureate (IB) can vary depending on various factors. Here is a general overview of the process:

Interest and Exploration: Schools express their interest in pursuing IB authorization and begin exploring the requirements and benefits of implementing the IB programmes.

Feasibility Study: Schools conduct a feasibility study to assess their readiness and capacity to implement the IB programmes. This includes evaluating resources, staff qualifications, infrastructure, and community support.

Application and Candidacy: Schools submit an application to become an IB candidate school. The IB organization reviews the application and supporting documents to determine if the school meets the initial requirements.

Pre-Authorization Visit: If the application is accepted, a pre-authorization visit is scheduled. During this visit, IB representatives assess the school's readiness to implement the IB programmes based on the IB standards and practices.

Preparing for Authorization: After the pre-authorization visit, the school receives feedback and recommendations for improvement. The school then works on addressing these recommendations and aligning their practices with the IB standards.

Authorization Visit: Once the school feels ready, an authorization visit is scheduled. During this visit, a team of IB representatives evaluates the school's implementation of the IB programmes, including curriculum, assessment practices, teacher training, and support systems.

Authorization Decision: Following the authorization visit, the IB organization reviews the team's report and makes a decision regarding the school's authorization. The school will receive notification of the decision, which can be authorization, conditional authorization, or deferral.

Reem youssif Houssin
