The rivers in China heavily influenced China’s culture and gave them fish, fresh drinking water, and water for crops. Yangtze River, Yellow River

To the north and west of Ancient China were two of the world's largest deserts: the Gobi Desert and the Taklamakan Desert . To the south and southeast of China are the Himalaya Mountains. The geography of Ancient China shaped the way the civilization and culture developed. The large land was isolated from much of the rest of the world by dry deserts to the north and west, the Pacific Ocean to the east, and impassable mountains to the south.” (Rosinsky, 2013)

The Chinese political system was a monarchy. The Qin emperor did both good and harm but his reign lasted only 15 years. The Qin emperor built roads and appointed people to government. Pros and cons of a monarchy. Pros, the transfer of power can be smoother, it can be a more efficient government. Cons, it can lead to poor leadership, it invests too much power into one individual. China’s huge land was very difficult to govern, several times in its history China split into many warring kingdoms.
