I wish I could be there at New Delhi to wath the badminton tournement lively.Well, never fail to watch it through my television having foods and drinks along with me.Sitting right front of it from 8pm till 10 without a single move was quite hard to do but I did till the end.My hopes wasn't a waste .Finally. the bhangra drums were feverishly beating away as Malaysia rejoiced after storming into the Thomas Cup final at the Siri Fort Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. It was certainly a dream to come true.Malaysia won Indonesian after 10 years roughly and this victory brought pride to our country .Thank again to Dato Lee Chong Wei.

The best part was to see how Dato Lee Chong Wei does smash during the game.NO words to express it seriously .His perfect skills in smashing made me realize that

The badminton smash is mainly used for attacking. It often acts as a winning shot in any badminton rallies.Basically a smash is an offensive shot shot fired from a high point and travels down steeply towards your opponent.
Secondly his net play.Compared to the opponent,he had hilarious skills in having good badminton footwork to bring you quickly to the front of the court to return the shuttle. He always try to take the shuttle when it’s still high in the air. In this case, he also had the ability to hit the shuttle at the highest point possible near the net.If the shuttle is near the badminton net and is still high up, HE JUST TOOK HIS CHANCE TO SMASH!

Furthermore,he also hadgood control of your racket. First,he maked sure that he is holding the racket the correct way. He was keep focusing on that so I knoew that having a good hold of racket is a needed and good task before starting the game .Other useful tips that I learnt from Dato Lee Chong Weim commpared to the opponent is taking the shuttle at the highest point possible and exerting appropriate strength to send the shuttle across the other side and prebably having the shuttle fly right above the net.As ,he was playing recklessly

for badminton singles, he focused for accuracy! The opponent still had a large area to defend but to win he put on his smash towards the sidelines of the court. Hence ,the opponent find it very difficult to retrieve the smash that lands on (or close to) the sidelines. He hit a powerful smash towards the sidelines, so there was a high chance for his smash to travel out of the court. With full power, the accuracy of your smash is greater compared to the opponent.

However both the badminton singles players had strong mental fitness. They was like never to lose hope on themselves.I justifice this because throughout the tournement,I kept an eye on them. They was like to have confidences and taking the whole game jusr as an experience .I cheered loud at home supporting them because they inspired me with their positive motions.I really enjoyed the game just because the both players had a high sense of humor.Although I was scared to know the winner at the end ,but I considered that both of them are eligible to win the Thomas Cup because they are blessed with their atttitudes.

Besides that ,the similarity between them was also the cooperation and tolerence that they had,It was really a good flow of game without any inconvience .Their [passion and desire to win was really worthfull to watch and a good move to inspire the youth to become successful badminton players as both of them.– Their willingness to work, the desire to win, the hunger to become a champion was the biggest trophy that anyone could ask for. I called them as the “fighting spirit”. I call it the “intensity to want to win”. This is one skill that can be very difficult to learn.I learnt it from them. There can’t be any excuses. I imagined myself next day after training or games, even if I wake up and feel tired, I have to overcome MY fatigue, pain, and any other excuses to continue working. This “intensity” is something I either have or don’t have. I am goingto be a successful athlete that possess this passion to win in my future definitely.

KAUSILYA MURUGA DASS
FIS 1609-7703
11E
