Abundant natural resource, huge workforce, and political stability are some strenghts this country have that can boost its economic growth. Most of the population in Indonesia is also in its productive age. This made the population of Indonesia is mainly comprised of productive labor. Indonesia is also shifting its reliance on raw commodity exports to manufactured goods. This shifting required the development of the manufacturing infrastructure of the country so the government focused its budget spending on the investment and development of its infrastructure. But despite of many strenghts it has, this country also has risks and obstacles to its economic growth. This is due to this nation complexity because of its unique dynamics, context, and diversified population.

Before the prolonged global economic slowdown in 2011, Indonesia gained recognition as one of the countries to have a sophisticated financial system because of its potential. Some of the cause of this great economic potential is abundant, diverse natural resources, large young population, strategic location, and low labour costs. Indonesia’s market is dominated by SOEs and large private business group, but medium to micro-sized companies are still holding a greater potential, contributing 60% of Indonesia’s GDP. Maximizing the existing potential, the government is eager to boost the manufacturing industry over the traditional reliance on raw commodity export. But the problem is, private sectors are hesistant to invest, and global commodity prices are falling; therefore causing economic slowdown in Indonesia. But to accelerate the economic growth, the current government is pushing two sectors of Indonesia’s unexplored potential: infrastructure growth and investments; furthermore it’s showing a good sign.

Tablets provide too many distractions from longer-form reading. Beside that, reading digitally is worse for recall and comprehension than reading books. As a role model, parents should give more time to read a book with their children. But tablets nowadays became the modern babysitter, so that parents can get other things done. In the end, children's reading habits is not a problem between children and technology but between their parents and screens.

Strengths such as abundant and diverse natural resources, low labour costs and rapidly expanding middle class show its structural macroeconomic growth. Although Indonesia was affected by the 2011-2015 global economic slowdown, it is starting to show signs of potentially substantial economic growth. Despite the fact, those who are interested in investing should know the risks because of the nation's unique dynamics and context.

But in the midst of this globalization era, it must be admitted that the use of tablets as means of reading has such a contrasting impact on young children. Take an example where kids get half an hour or an hour with the iPad, surely they will opt for things that excite them most; no other than the iPad itself. Moreover, this method of reading has a deeper cultural problem with reading as a shared experience between children and parents. As a matter of fact, parents and their children have no contact or interaction due to this method of learning, whereas children tend to follow adults by imitating what they see around them; this makes adults should be responsible for the impact of books in the advancement of technology. In conclusion, books and gadgets are quite similar one to another – but the way we present them is what influenced the readers. Nevertheless, a newer research with younger subject is still needed to to know how positive or negative the effect of using digital reading.

The negative impact is they can make children become less focused and hard to concentrate. But, the positive one is the reading activity can be more attractive and practical. With the existing impacts, we must think of solutions that can be optimizing the positive impact and minimizing the negative impact. The solutions are parents should accompany their children when they are on tablet or computer, lead them to things that can increase their interests to read, and encourage them to read conventional books.

It is very contrast if we compare it with the past four years. Due to that, there is some debate whether tablet actually should be allowed to frequently used by children for improving reading habits or not. Although frequent usage of tablet can be used for more reading, it allows more distraction for children while learning and cause the amount of concentration decreased. But at the end of the day, children will look to their parents as role models in how much time spent for tablets. Due to that, parents should prepare more time reading together with their kids through tablet that is frequently used and reduce time usage being online so that their children will spend more time reading books through tablets without being distracted.

The growth of children’s use of tablets have both positive and negative effects on their reading habits. Positively, its supposedly fun, more entertaining, and could act as a modern babysitter. Negatively, its distracting, may lead to illiteracy, and can make kids less interested to the end of the story. Some of the negative effects can be overcome by present “real books” as a desirable things because books are more welcomed by childrens as well as parents. Books can act as a social activity and it can improve the readers language skill. Other than that, the negative effects can also be resolve if the parents act as a role model.

Prastita Doharta 16618059
Laura Naomi Roniar 16618107
Elita Tri Nacia Tambun 16618197
Nadira Trieskarini 16618377
Salma Azaria Al-Amin 16618407

Childern's reading habits changed since the launch of Apple's first IPad in 2010. They prefer playing games than reading while using IPad. The economy of Indonesia had been recognised by the global community to be the world’s next emerging giant economic power because of many strenghts this country had.

Childern's reading habits changed since the launch of Apple's first IPad in 2010. They prefer playing games than reading while using IPad. This happens because reading has been being a must rather than pleasures. Children nowadays prefer a new and more interactive things than the usual. Beside that, the figure of parents must be a role model for their children. They should give an example to read and spend more time with their children reading a book together. In the end, the problem which decreased reading habits of children was not the technology but the environment around the children itself.

Tablets are one of favourite children's' favourite gadgets. This can be proven from the study that shows an increase of children who uses tablets in the UK and USA. Indeed, this has a huge effect, especially children's reading habits. This habit has started to decrease due to some features of their tablets such as games and videos. As a result, many researcher think that tablet use for reading is not effective. They advise reading from a book than from a screen because according to the researchers, reading a book has many benefits that cannot be gained from reading using a tablets.
