https://morrisschooldistrict.instructure.com/courses/1685/discussion_topics/21192]]> 2016-06-09 12:02:50 UTC https://padlet.com/carla_cipriani/9k0w6wjiy5pt/wish/114201803 carla_cipriani https://padlet.com/carla_cipriani/9k0w6wjiy5pt/wish/114203551 The resource that helped me the most would probably be the online Latin-to-English dictionary: William Whitaker's Words.  Because we did so much translating in class, it was integral to have a reliable and comprehensive aid.  During the year when I had to really learn translations, I would go to each Latin word and find the English translation, "chunking", in order for the translation to make sense to me.  Thus, because of this "chunking" technique, having an excellent Latin dictionary that would give instantaneous and accurate word translations was vital and ultimately helped me accurately translate Latin passages.

http://archives.nd.edu/words.html]]> 2016-06-09 12:18:01 UTC https://padlet.com/carla_cipriani/9k0w6wjiy5pt/wish/114203551 carla_cipriani https://padlet.com/carla_cipriani/9k0w6wjiy5pt/wish/114203633 After reviewing some old tests, I came to the conclusion that doing the multiple choice was the area that I had the most trouble with.  It was clear to me that this was a struggle of mine because in the test that contained this section, I received one of my lowest, if not the lowest, test grade of the year.  When comparing this test to ones that were open-ended, I noticed a clear difference: I do much better when given the option to write out and explain my answers.  My difficulty with multiple choice lies in having to differentiate among options as I tend to second-guess myself often.  I feel that I haven't overcome this struggle quite yet as I haven't had that much practice but when studying for the AP Latin test, I felt that I did better than my attempt on that one test.]]> 2016-06-09 12:18:31 UTC https://padlet.com/carla_cipriani/9k0w6wjiy5pt/wish/114203633 carla_cipriani https://padlet.com/carla_cipriani/9k0w6wjiy5pt/wish/114203655 Over the course of this year I've grown a lot as a student and as a person as well.  Some of these valuable lessons I've learned have been how to persevere through tough material, how to work with others and be a team player, as well as how to plan and study on my own.  By having the chance to be more independent in a very challenging class, I was given the unique opportunity to prepare for the real world, or for what is most relevant for me, college.  During class, I would have to motivate myself to start and finish a translation as well as coordinate with my classmates on who had what part, etc.  When studying for unit tests, I would have to spend hours going over translations and reviewing grammar points, helping mold me into a more focused, productive, and diligent student.  ]]> 2016-06-09 12:18:44 UTC https://padlet.com/carla_cipriani/9k0w6wjiy5pt/wish/114203655 carla_cipriani https://padlet.com/carla_cipriani/9k0w6wjiy5pt/wish/114203680 I feel that I have really improved my approach to translating during the course of AP Latin.  Initially, I felt very unsure of how to effectively translate and was a little lost.  However, as the year progressed I began to develop better ways to approaching the Latin and learned to really match Latin words to the English and to "chunk" the passages to make the material more digestible.  By breaking down the Latin, I learned to make the Latin more manageable, and even more so, I was able to really learn the Latin and understand it.
