For instance, many laws focus on the idea of discrimination in an attempt to ensure that no groups are disadvantaged in any way. For example, it is illegal for employers to refuse employment of an individual on the basis of characteristics such as race, nationality, sex, age, religion, etc. This could potentially also be reflected by the way income tax works in Canada. For larger and larger incomes, more income tax needs to be paid. However, these laws are clearly not enough to mitigate the injustice currently found everywhere in Canadian society. Furthermore, the concept of the veil of ignorance is merely a thought experiment. It is clearly not perfect, but it still provides important foundational ideas that help inform new laws and government policies.
