Informal Textual Response 9/9/2017Write a letter to a character…	Hi, Melinda, it’s Thalia how are you? Are you still not speaking? Your silent period has to come to an end! Can you trust me and tell me what happened to you that day at the party. Everyone from our middle school, including our friends is blaming you for calling the police. Additionally, calling the police required a significant amount of strength and power; I’m aware that if you called the police it was for a legitimate reason. Speak to me, I promise I won't say anything to your parents or your so-called Hannah. Remember how close we were before this incident happened, we would always tell each other everything.Melinda a little bird alerted that you are not performing to the best of your abilities, especially in school. The little bird was your mother; you are aware that I am unable to keep a secret. In addition to being silent and ditching school, you are also failing majority of all your, classes except art. Additionally, using art to express yourself is astonishing, and marvelous, but you are scaring everyone by not speaking. According to Ms. Connor, you and Nicole were having an intense match of tennis. Who would have believed that you would challenge Nicole?Lastly, living in Manhattan is incomparable to living in Syracuse. Living in Manhattan offers numerous and endless possibilities such as walking outside at any time and finding a place to eat. Even the weather is different I don’t know how is that even possible but it is. We actually have a fall and spring season and as for summer and winter they are brutal. Winters in New York City are nothing compared to winters in Syracuse; people actually organize activities here. The city manages not to stop or die out teenagers meet up and socialize, even with a blizzard alert there is still traffic. Can you believe that? Love,Thalia Anderson, H. L. (1999). Speak. New York, New York: Penguin.

10/14/17
See-Think-Wonder

This routine helps stimulate curiosity and sets the stage for inquiry. Ask students to make observations about an object, image, or event, answering these three questions:

· What do you see?

· What do you think about that?

· What does it make you wonder?

Connect-Extend-Challenge

This routine helps students make connections from real life to content . The students will be asked these three questions:

· How are the ideas and information presented connected to what you know and have studied?

· What new ideas extended or pushed your thinking in new directions?

· What is still challenging or confusing for you? What questions, wonderings, or puzzles do you have?

The purpose of these questions are to ensure students become engaged with the tasks and content in order for them to be able to perform at a higher level in class. By connecting the content to what they know and real life situations the students will have a higher chance of understanding the content which will allow for them to remain focused and engaged throughout the lessons and actually leave class with newly acquired knowledge that they can use throughout their lives. In addition, by asking these question the teacher can receive feedback from the students that will allow the teacher to create instruction tailored to meet the needs of the students to help improve student achievement.

LGBT Post

Summary of the text

Rainbow Boys is the story of three gay, teenage boys struggling to balance their true identities with the expectations of society around them. Rainbow boys are recounted from different perspectives of three gay teenagers in various stages of sexual realization. For example, Nelson is out and proud everyone knows that he is gay. Then Kyle he is the star swimmer at school he knows he’s gay but he hasn’t come out to his parents or his friends. Lastly, Jason realizes that he is gay but is too afraid to admit this even to himself.

The story focuses on the development of the relationship of the three boys. Nelson and Kyle are best friends, but it is very obvious that Nelson is in love with Kyle. Kyle is in love with Jason, who hasn’t realized that he’s gay. As Kyle and Jason’s relationship progresses, Nelson sinks further and further into depression. He is in love with Kyle, but Kyle only sees him as a friend. Kyle turns to Nelson for support when he feels vulnerable about his relationship with Jason. As time passes, as his love for Kyle grows, Jason begins to rely on his family and friends for support as he comes out to his family and friends.

In the article Watch what you teach: A First- Year Teacher Refuses to play it Safe a first year teach pushes her boundaries and educates her students about the challenge of a hegemonic social norming. First, she implemented queer issues into her curriculum. Then, she implemented three types of statements Diversity in America, Sexual Diversity in America, and Options for sexual diversity in America. The teacher allowed for students to free write on how they felt towards these statements. This teacher enlightened her students she made them aware of ant homophobia, and heteronormativity.

Sanchez, A.(2001). Rainbow Boys. New York: Simon Pulse.

Sieben, N., Wallowitz, L., Gardner, T.(2009).
