The china clay industry was the most important industry in the area where I grew up. The piece represents the beach and the waves crashing on the shore. I love the style of his paintings and sketches. The characters he draws are interesting, colourful and memorable. He hand paints all of his illustrations and then works on them digitally. He grew up in Belfast, where i am from so I do feel a personal connection with him. He has written and illustrated many books now and they are available all over the world. All of the stories he writes have a beautiful message, not only for children but adults too.  They always give me a happy feeling when I read them.  My favorite is his first book, How to Catch A Star. I have a signed copy in my home.

This painting's origin is Shanghai, China. It is made from rice paper, solid ink (India ink). The brushes are usually made out of bunny, rat, wolf or goat hair. The handles of the brushes are made of bamboo. My dad got it made as a gift for the Prime Minister of Malaysia, but he asked the artist to make two copies of the art piece. The thing that is special about it is that the artist has made two copies in the whole world. I can't tell you the author's name because it is written in Mandarin. This piece took three months to make. The unique secret message is "We shall fight on the beaches. We shall fight on the landing grounds. We shall fight in the fields and in the streets. My dads favourite piece of art is a painting of lotus flowers. He bought it in 
Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam when he was on a business trip for is job. My dad saw it and thought it was a beautiful painting like no other he'd ever seen before. They are realised following the Neapolitan traditional handicrafts of the 18th century and represent two symbols of the popular culture of her home country: "O'Munaciello" (the little monk) and "Il corno" (the hornlet). O'Munaciello, according to a famous legend, is a spiteful spirit that enters the houses secretly and makes tricks or leaves some money. The red hornlet with the head of Pulcinella (the classical character of Neapolitan puppetry) is an amulet or talisman used to protect against the bad luck or the evil in general. She bought it from the artist himself who besides painting ruins of Siem Riep also teaches  art in the University of Bangkok. He is known for his work with light.  
This painting shows the temple in its jungle surrounding with sunlight on the foreground lighting up the temple beautifully. 
She loves this piece not because of its beauty but also for the architecture and history behind it. The temple was designed and built by women  in the 900s and is the most well preserved of all temples un Angkor.
