<title>Blocks were placed around the carpet where the circle time occurs. Two children are allowed at a time, and these two specific children decided to combine their ideas and create one large block tower. Free block time allows children to explore the classroom. Child Development and Learning in Context involves understanding children&#39;s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development and how various contexts shape them. To demonstrate growth in this standard, students may be asked to conduct research or case studies that examine child development and learning in context. Children worked together and shared their ideas. To demonstrate growth as a professional in this standard, students may reflect on how their knowledge and understanding of child development and learning in context have evolved over time and how they have applied this knowledge to their work. Next time, I know these two children will benefit from the block center, so I may set up a couple of centers that allow for different blocks.</title>

<title>Every Friday in the classroom, when children went down for rest. I would start to journal how the day went. What happened, what activities we had planned or completed? This journal helps remind me of what was endured during the day, and what or who needs extra help or observation. Completing a journal entry facilitates professional growth: Through journaling, teachers can set goals, track their progress, and reflect on their accomplishments. This helps them develop a growth mindset and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. Improves teaching practices: Journaling can help teachers identify areas where they need to improve their teaching practices, such as classroom management, lesson planning, or assessment. By reflecting on their experiences, teachers can develop new strategies and approaches to address these challenges. </title>

<title>One of my lesson plans this semester was to &quot;write your own book&quot;. Our lesson theme of the month was families, so children drew a picture of their family member and were then given the opportunity to write something positive about their family member. The assignment of having children write and illustrate a picture book about families is an excellent way to encourage their creativity, imagination, and language development. By guiding children to explore the concept of families through storytelling and drawing, teachers can also promote their social-emotional development and help them learn to appreciate and respect differences in families&#39; structures and dynamics. Teachers can also use picture books as a resource to teach about families, diversity, and storytelling. Finally, the teacher can reflect on their teaching practices and make necessary improvements to continue to meet Standard 2</title>

<title>Standard 4 - Developmentally, Culturally, and Linguistically Appropriate Teaching Practices involve creating an inclusive and respectful learning environment that supports the development of all children, including those from diverse linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. In our classroom, we had an area that was usually only used for a few children. All children know that the calming center is accessible but it was usually used for the students that needed calming throughout the day. These children have endured horrific things, and are still learning to manage their emotions. These children would utilize the calming center to recollect themselves to be able to participate with the other students. To demonstrate growth as a professional and meet this standard, teachers can: Develop an understanding of children&#39;s diverse backgrounds: Teachers can learn about the cultures, languages, and backgrounds of the children in their classroom and use this information to create a learning environment that respects and reflects their diversity. In the future, I will develop and foster ways to make children feel more inclusive while in the classroom.</title>

<title>Standard 5 - Knowledge, Application, and Integration of Academic Content in the Early Childhood Curriculum involve the use of developmentally appropriate and meaningful learning experiences to help children acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for success in school and beyond. One of the lessons I implemented this year was to make Octapusses. Our theme of the month was the Ocean. While my mentor focused on different parts of the ocean, I focused on what creatures were in our ecosystem. Every day, children would have the opportunity to participate in whatever creature we were making. After our creations were done, the children would have help with hanging their sea creatures on our ocean wall. In our ocean, we have goldfish. sharks, octopuses, and seahorses. Children will be adding more sea creatures as they learn about what animals are in our ecosystem. o demonstrate growth as a professional and meet this standard, teachers can: Develop an understanding of academic content: Teachers can develop a deep understanding of the academic content they are responsible for teaching, including the skills and concepts children need to master to be successful. Use developmentally appropriate teaching strategies: Teachers can use teaching strategies that are developmentally appropriate and align with children&#39;s learning needs and interests. In the future, I will be sure to utilize all that goes into our theme. The ocean theme allowed for many different activities and opportunities for the children to learn about our environment + ecosystem. </title>
