It is important because it almost destroyed the Babylonians. The Babylonians were living around 2000 BC to 1600 B.C. Around 1792 B.C. a young man named Hammurabi became king of Babylon. That was important because Hammurabi was a great king for the Babylonians. After Hammurabi died his empire grew weaker. Now that is important because Hammurabi's empire was really strong empire because of Hammurabi. In august 605 BC Nabopolassar became king of the Babylonians. This is important because He and his son Nebuchadnezzar rebuilt the Babylonians.

Hammurabi became king of Babylon around 1792 BC. We know about Hammurabi because he  was on of the kings of Babylon. Hammurabi had strict laws like cutting peoples hands of if they stole. Hammurabi was that special that when he died his empire got too weak. Another person was  Naboplassar,  he was also a king of Babylon. He and his son Nebuchadnezzar rebuilt Babylon. Naboplassar beat the Assyrians with the help of the Medes from the Assyrian rule. We know all of this because because Naboplassars son was the best king of the Babylonians.

The Ziggurat was a temple for the Babylonians. The Ziggurat is 46 meters on the base and 12 meters in height with 3 stories. They kept heaven and god close to them with the temple. They call the Ziggurat the holly mountain. The Ziggurat was built with bricks of mud and a material called bitumen.
