More than 2/3 of the country doesn't allow gay marriage but everywhere you go, you can marry the opposite sex. Why is that fair?

Now imagine you live in Florida where there is an amendment named the Anti-Gay Constitutional Amendment which restricts you from a same-sex marriage, domestic partnership and civil union. What would you do? Move away from your family, friends, work and more or never be fully committed in your relationship with your same-sex partner. Same-sex couples want the same protections as non gay couples.

It also says that when people take on all the commitments and responsibilities of marriage they should not be treated like second-class status. If you did a project for science and you did extra-credit, would you want your grade to be the same as the regular project? The extra-credit in the real world is the commitments and responsibilities and the teachers is the anti-gays. Your least favorite teacher.

Colorado allows civil union and Oregon and Nevada allow domestic partnership. Wisconsin also allows domestic partnership but it is very limited. Over 43% of the U.S population lives in a states that provides some form of protections for gay couples. Same-sex couples should have the same rights as non same-sex couples who are married. So why aren't we giving it to them?
