Did you know according to the ASPCA 8-12 million animals are put into shelters each year? That is 8-12 million dogs and cats without a place to call home, or a warm bed, or a family to love. I am urging you to consider adoption when it comes to your next pet and help save a life. I adopted my dog 3 years ago, before I got him he was in a home where he was mistreated often and developed a mistrust of people and other animals before long his owners dropped him off at a shelter and left. He did not take to the shelter well. The owners of the shelter knew he wouldn't last long and euthanization would have to be an option. When the shelter called and told me about him I knew I needed to be the one who saved him and 3 years later it was one of the best decisions of my life. He has come a long way and has learned to trust people again and allow others into his life. He loves unconditionally and knows now he is home and safe.
Now I want you to think about that number again, 8-12 million. How many of those animals do you believe end up in a forever home? According to the humane society of America on a good year, they are lucky if half of those pets get adopted. That’s nearly 4-6 million animals who were in my dog’s very situation. But many of those animals do not get the happy ending they deserve. While adoption rates are going up in America we need to do better, this is again why I urge you, if you or someone you know is thinking about bringing in a new member of the family adopt and don't shop.

We need more time to do our work. All the other teachers post their assignments either a day before or the morning day that it is due. They also make it due at midnight which gives us the whole day to finish our work. You only give us an hour to do our work. We have to look in our books and find the answers which sometimes take a long time because one, we have to constantly flip pages to find it, or we didn't highlight the text and have to read every paragraph. This is more of common sense but, if you give us more time, more people will have their work done. And sometimes, something comes up and we won’t be able to do our work until later in the night. Studies show that giving the students the whole day to work, gives them a better chance of finishing it. Some students have work and won’t be able to finish their work in time. And remember, driver’s ed is a new class. It’s not like we had driver’s ed last year. We’re kind of inexperienced. So could you please post as early as you possibly can and have it due at midnight please?

Social distancing- social distancing is so incredibly important. There are currently many lives, old and young at stake. You should also distance for yourself and for your people back at home. The United states has recently passed the mark of 500,000 deaths due to covid-19. Do you want to add to that number. Do you yourself want to be a part of that number. Do you want your mom, dad or sister to be a part of that number. Your actions could truly affect others in this case. It could affect yourself and the people you care about too. There is currently about an average of 2,900 every week just in the state of New jersey. There are over 24,00 cases and over 500 deaths in Atlantic county alone. There are over 24 million in the U.S. alone. You can either be a part of the problem or help solve it. Wear a mask, stay 6 feet apart and wash your hands. Check the official cdc website for more information on how to stay safe.

I've decided I want to switch my academy, the academy I'm in right now is not for me and I know myself better than anyone else so I know that in this academy I will not succeed. The reason for picking an academy is to have college credits after high school so what's the point of me being in an academy if i know i wont use it and there is an option that i will succeed in and will continue in college after high school. I know myself, i know how i learn, i know what i am capable of so the decision of switching i can for sure say 100% will help me in school and with my future. IN july 2017 it was said that 91% of high school students that say they know what they want as a career change there minds during high school into collage.(https://www.payscale.com/career-news/2017/07/teenager-career-choice-91-percent-teens-think-know-career-want).Appealing to something else you might understand, what would be the point of me being unhappy in the academy I'm in right now. Being in an academy i dont like can ruin my whole school experience. It will make me not want to come to school, not pay attention in class, and not want to do my work. The academy we choose is based on our emotions and if I'm not enjoying the academy and classes then not only me but other students start to do poorly in that academy and class. Imagine this was you and you didn't enjoy what you chose as your academy and you wanted to switch but they said no. You would be upset and complete;y not into the class or academy. You wouldn't want to do the work because you don't need to do that class and you would be miserable because you don't enjoy that class. After all of this I've said I hope you take into mind my feelings and points and reconsider your opinion into letting me switch academies for my own benefit in school.

Like me I like to take my time and go over it to make sure I did it correctly and some teachers give us like an hour to finish our work and that's not enough time to finish certain assignments that they give us.

When I was applying at Atlantic County Institute Technology I think I remember chosen Medical assisting and Culinary arts as my academy course. I choose both of them because I enjoy cooking but I was more into the medical field it was something I wanted to pursue. Cooking makes me happy, I love food very much but I had to come to a point to make my decision If I had to choose between Culinary arts and Medical assisting. One of my thoughts was what if I get chosen for culinary how am I going to ask my counselor to switch. I enjoy cooking with my family but sometimes I would get tired of it because if you can cook sometimes they would ask me to do it all the time to the point I feel horrible. https://medium.com/@rukshanakk/is-there-a-right-age-to-choose-a-career-73a04d5b554a making that decision in eighth grade I felt like it was too early because you change your mind every second, this article says even at the age of forty there are people who still choosing their second career, it also says is our mind strong enough at 15? To even make a decision like that would we regret it one day, I was making that decision at the age of 14 So let say one day I choose I do not like this career choice, I believe that we should at least explore and help prepare for the better. Choosing a medical assisting for me would be right I had a passion I remember going to the hospital to visit my aunt with my cousin and seeing how the nurse and doctor were taking care of her. So was my mom when she was giving birth she told me how good they take care of her to the point I was like if they would let me in I would be so happy to see everything that was going to have an idea maybe. So that gives me hope one day I hope I make someone feel safe and happy in my hands.

I personally think homework should not be a thing. I think it should be an option. Nowadays especially now with this pandemic everyone is stressed about things outside of school and this virus and i think homework is adding more stress to the students. We stress about turning things in on time and making sure we don't fail and that adds a lot of stress in our lives. According to Healthline they state,”When it came to stress, more than 70 percent of students said they were “often or always stressed over schoolwork,” with 56 percent listing homework as a primary stressor. Less than 1 percent of the students said homework was not a stressor”.(https://www.healthline.com/health-news/children-more-homework-means-more-stress-031114#:~:text=When%20it%20came%20to%20stress,homework%20as%20a%20primary%20stressor.) This explains that many kids stress at a young age because of homework and i personally think that thats not good for our mental health.

The more we follow the 6ft rule, the more we can possibly save not only our own lives but others lives. The mask protects you from others and you from them, it doesn't make you safe so if you’re around people who don’t have their mask on you are still exposed. That's where 6ft comes in and helps you. According to Infectious disease specialist Kristin Englund, MD. “respiratory droplets aren’t spread solely by coughing and sneezing. They can be expelled by talking, singing, breathing heavily, laughing – you name it.” It isn’t something that you can just assume that you will be okay, people have had it and had no idea. I feel like this pandemic is ruining peoples’ lives, scared to work, scared to come to school, struggling because they may have lost their job. I feel for these people who are really going through tough times dealing with family members who have the virus or has passed, the more serious we take this the better we become and the more lives we save, just distance for the sake of everyone’s safety.

School gives students homework and they tend to fall behind school work or projects. Studies have found that giving extra homework to students leads to sleep deprivation, unhealthy levels of stress and related health problems. Homework can cause the student to feel stressed and anxious when they can’t complete their assignments on time. Students need time to spend with their family, catch up with friends and do activities to refresh their minds and bodies. Homework consumes time from students that they are unable to see friends and spend time with their family.

Seven hours of learning is enough for students and they should have the rest of the day for themselves and relax. Students need their freetime because it seems unfair to do school assignments for the rest of the day when they get back from school. Homework is less effective because mostly students ask their siblings, parents, or tutors to do them instead. In the classroom explained by a teacher, it makes way more sense than at home.

Last year had to be one of the worst years I’ve had to live through either for personal reasons, Covid-19 or related to both. I haven’t been able to see my friends or other family members that don’t live in my house for several months now in hopes to not get Covid or potentially spread it. If I even did see them I followed the rules/regulations you are supposed to follow that being to have a mask on to try to stay 6 feet from them. I’ve tried my best to stay home and only go out when I need to. Sometimes I resent the people whose parents allow them to go out and hang out with their friends. Then I remember it’s for the safety of others and myself. Like I said last year was a horrible year and I personally got, and know people who got covid and have had family members who have passed due to covid. People don’t realize that it is a lot worse when you actually have it, I haven't been able to properly smell or taste since December. I can understand seeing someone for a couple minutes but throwing big parties and gatherings that don’t need to be held and you don’t regulate the rules. I think people should think about the fact that they could get covid or spread it to loved ones. I can understand wanting to see your friends and family, but it’s not that hard to not see them and if you follow the rules there is a greater chance that this goes away faster which means everything could go back to “normal.” The CDC on November 12, 2020 released an official statement about why you should social distance. ‘Social distancing should be practiced in combination with other everyday preventive actions to reduce the spread of COVID-19, including wearing masks, avoiding touching your face with unwashed hands, and frequently washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.’ The CDC lets you know what you should do in order to try to prevent the spread of covid and it even tells you if you do go out and you aren't with people just from your household you should be wearing a mask. The mask might not prevent you from getting covid but it definitely helps you and anyone around you.
