How this impacts out community?

What are the effects of poverty on society?

Learning about the culture, identity, and lifestyle of my international peers was another enriching aspect of the project. We shared stories about our daily lives, traditions, and values, which helped me appreciate the diversity and commonalities among us. For instance, I discovered how cultural practices influence economic activities and how community support systems can play a critical role in poverty alleviation. This cultural exchange not only expanded my knowledge but also fostered a sense of empathy and respect for different ways of life.

This experience has undoubtedly made me a better global citizen. It underscored the importance of global cooperation and the need to look beyond our borders to understand and solve worldwide issues. I realized that being a global citizen means being informed, empathetic, and proactive in contributing to global solutions. Engaging with peers from different backgrounds also taught me the value of diverse perspectives in creating comprehensive and effective strategies.

Moreover, the COIL project has heightened my sense of personal and social responsibility. Understanding the global impact of poverty made me more aware of my role in addressing these issues locally and globally. I feel a stronger commitment to volunteering, advocacy, and making informed choices that support sustainable development. This project has prepared me for career success by equipping me with the skills to work in diverse teams, think critically about global issues, and act responsibly in both personal and professional contexts.
