At the beginning of this year, I had a new experience. I began my social service at CONAGUA, a well known organization nationwide. There, I've learned and developed skills I didn't fully master before, or at least didn't even know I had. I've become more confident in myself and with others; I can express myself more openly, without worrying about what others might say. People only understand each other by talking.

So far, I'm still doing much the same thing, in addition to learning a little about human resources.

A few months ago, my boyfriend and I celebrated our fourth anniversary as a couple. I hadn't known what to give him, so I decided to surprise him with an engraved wooden watch — kind of like an engagement watch.

He, in turn, wanted to give me a promise ring, but the funny thing was that it didn't even fit my thumb! It was way too big.

Since he had bought it from an online jewelry store, now we're just waiting for someone to help us return or exchange it.

This year, I went to the bar with only one friend. When I go to parties, I usually go with at least four other people, but on that occasion, it was just the two of us. It was a fantastic and funny experience because we met people the whole time we were there. I remember that our other friends didn't want to join us, but we forced them to come at the last moment because we had to walk a lot and it was raining that day.

My best anecdote of this semester of the year is when I went to the concert that I have waited for for 7 years.

A singer of my favorite band came, and obviously I went to see him. The atmosphere was really nice; the fans gave away something called freebies that could be photocards, bracelets, or even necklaces with the name of the artists or the name of their songs.

I met nice people at the concert, and I couldn't talk for the next 5 days.

In my first semester of the year, on my birthday, I went out for a michelada even though I didn’t feel like celebrating. Things didn’t go as planned my boyfriend was late, it rained, and we had to change locations. I had fun at a bar for a bit, but on the way home I got dizzy and threw up in my dad’s truck. I hadn’t eaten all day, and the next day I had the worst hangover ever.

Moving to a House

I used to live in an apartment, but the landlady asked me to leave because she wanted to rent it to her nephew. So I didn’t have much choice other than moving into my mom’s house, where she has been living alone for the past four years. We were happy to make the change, and we’ve been sharing a big house since April.

The only thing I don’t really like is that the house is bigger than an apartment, so it requires more time and work to keep it clean and to do the maintenance. But now I have a bigger bedroom and a space to work from home.

A very nice experience I had in my first semester of the year mmmm.. I remember was we celebrated her birthday to a friend at McDonald's in front of the school, brought her some presents and a hat for her birthday. We had an amazing time that day.

At the end of last semester, I worked on a small project where I built a Morse code "beeper" using a basic circuit. It was really interesting because, even though I had learned some circuit theory before, I had never actually built one myself.

I had to research what I needed, gather the materials, and figure out how to make it work. While I was assembling the circuit, I was learning a lot, especially through trial and error.

In March of this year, I started working as an administrative assistant in an auto parts store, it is my first job since I finished my studies last year (but I still don't have my certificate). I never imagined working in a job like this, but it is a great opportunity to gain experience and in the future get a better job. Sometimes it is complicated to work during the day and study English at night because my work finishes at 6:00pm and I have to run everyday to my house to take my class, is really tired, but I think about the future rewards.
